    He was the governor of Alabama who was a supporter of racial segregation. Under federal pressure he was forced to end his blocksde of the University of Alabama and allow the enrollment of African American students. Despite his failures he continued being a spokesman for racial segregation and enterted to become president of the U.S.

    a federal district court in Alabama ordered the University of Alabama to admit African American students Vivien Malone and James Hood during its the summer session. George Wallace promised to prevent the school's integration no matter what it took. Wallace proceed his promise by positioning himself in front of the doorway of the school.

    Assassination of JFK
    President John F. Kennedy was assassinated as he rode in a motorcade through Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas, Texas. Bullets struck the president's neck and head and he slumped on top of Mrs. Kennedy. Later on, Police arrested a man named Lee Harvey Oswald stating that he was responsible for the death of JFK. That same day, President Kennedy funeral took place. During the day about 250,000 people went by to pay their respects.

    President Reagan and three others were shot and wounded by John Hinckley. Hinckley's motivation for the attack was to impress actress Jodie Foster, whom he had developed an obsession after seeing her in the 1976 film Taxi Driver. Reagan was shot in the chest, just below the left underarm. He suffered a punctured lung and heavy internal bleeding, but he was able to recover. We had the Bay of Pigs invasion and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
