    Created in post Civil War America, the KKK was created to suppress and victimize newly freed slaves. They later developed to harass and kill other minorities, such as immigrants in the 1920's.

    North Vietnam, a communist country sided with the Russians, versus South Vietnam, democratic country sided with the US. A 20 year war part of the Cold War. Communist forces ended the war by seizing control of South Vietnam in 1975, and the country was unified as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam the following year.

    Elvis was an American singer and actor regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as the "King of Rock and Roll". Elvis made rock 'n' roll the international language of pop and was the first Eminem (white man singing black music).
  • The Desegregation of the University of Alabama

    The Desegregation of the University of Alabama
    When two black students tried to enroll at the University of Alabama, Alabama Governor George Wallace literally blocked the door of the enrollment office with the help of the National Guard. On June 10, 1963, President JFK federalized National Guard troops and deployed them to the University of Alabama to force its desegregation. The next day, Governor Wallace "yeilded' and the 2 black students were allowed to enroll.

    John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated as he rode in a motorcade through Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas, Texas. It devasted the nation because he was a young president and he was pushing African American reform

    A political scandal which involved a break-in of the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate Hotel. After investigation it was found out that President Nixon was aware of the break-in. Further in the Investigation it was revealed that every conversation in the oval office was taped and that Nixon was supposed to hand over those tapes.

    During the 1980's, healthy gay men were dying. Doctors didn't know why but eventually doctors learned that this particular type of cancer. Many people were now freaked out a scared of gay people, hesitant that they would get HIV from them. This caused mass protesting by gays.
