    Hippie Movement
    The hippie movement started to become a lot more popular during the 60's. Lots of publicity and media was given to these people. They had ani-war protests that involved them doing a lot of drugs and reflecting on the Vietnam war. Soon it started to evolve as people started to figure out what the drugs really did to their body.

  • Alabama College team Wins Sugar Bowl

    Alabama College team Wins Sugar Bowl
    Bare Bryant led Alabama to win the Orange bowl in 1962 over Arkansas. Alabama went on a 11-0 win streak that season and claimed the title over Arkansas. They won with a score of 10-3.
  • Assassination of JFK

    Assassination of JFK
    America's 35th President was assassinated in Dallas TX in 1963.
    Lee Harvey Oswald was the one who fired two shots in the convertable that JFK was in. He was shot at around 12.30 and declared dead by the time he got to the hospital. A lot of theories were created for his assassination. The Kennedy & Johnson years:

  • Black Panther Party

    Black Panther Party
    Formed in 1966, the Black Panther Party was a group of African Americans who used self defence to protect other african american civilians in the neighborhood from brutial police punishments. The group was formed in Oakland. The group was active in the United States untill 1982 when racial rights started to become equal.
  • Assassination of RFK

    Assassination of RFK
    Robert F. Kennedy, the brother of John F. Kennedy was a senetor of NY at his time. He was assassinated 5 years after his brother. Sirhan Sirhan, fired a shot Robert 3 times. He also injured 5 other people but Robert being the only death of the scene. Robert was adressesing his supports and was shot while leaving from The Ambassador Hotel ballroom in LA.
  • US Lands on the Moon

    US Lands on the Moon
    Apollo 11 was the spacecraft that led both Neil Armstong, and Buzz Aldrin to lead the first two men on the moon. After the Russians beat us to space the race to the moon was thriving for US. This was a big deal since it was live broadcasted throughout the US. Family's at home witnessed the landing on the moon in their living rooms. This event shows us the technology advancements in the late 60's.
  • Ping Pong Diplomacy

    Ping Pong Diplomacy
    The Ping Pong Diplomacy was the event of exchange of table tennis players with the U.S. and China. This was a big deal because it was the first time U.S and China had a relations. Both of the superpowers were head to head in exchanging ping pong players. Zhuang Zedong and Glenn Cowan were involved in the diplomacy.
  • Watergate Scandal

    Watergate Scandal
    The Watergate scandal occured as a result of the break in at the Democratic National Committee. They found recordings of President Nixon having a Conversation in the Oval office that was suppose to be "confidential." When requested for the tapes, Nixon did hand over the tapes. Once they were looked over, around 20 minutes of the video was missing which arguably was the time Nixon was disscussing about Watergate. For this reason Nixon was afarid of being impeached which is why he resigned.
  • Hurricane Carmen

    Hurricane Carmen
    Hurricane Carmen was a tropical cyclone that formed in 1974. When approching the US from the Gulf of Mexico it threatned cities such as New Orleans, Louisana, and even Texas. The hurricane itself killed 8 people and caused distruction of $162 Million in damages. Other areas that were affected were Lesser Antilles, Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, Jamaica, Yucatán Peninsula, Belize.

    The Vietnam war started in the 50's. America was batteling in Vietnam to contain communism. During the war, lots of american soilders were sent to Vietnam and there were a lot of distruction from the Amercian Military. Overall the war was called as a tie because american casualties didn't add up to Vietnam's.

  • Creation of Apple Inc.

    Creation of Apple Inc.
    Apple as we know of today was a company formed by Steve Wosniak and Steve Jobs in the mid 70's. It started off as a computer program company that went up against Microsoft and other compititors. Their first products consisted of circut boards, keyboards and monitors. Soon enough they started to branch out and make computers called MAC's and phones called iPhones. Now Apple is a mulit billion dollar company that is still sround today.
  • Elvis Presley Dies

    Elvis Presley Dies
    Elvis Presley was a Rock n' Roll legend. He was a great preformer who danced and singed throughout his carear. At age 46 he died from drug overdose. Then he was named as "The King of Rock and Roll."
