    In the 1950's one of the most controversial things in the media was the Korean War. People thought this war would be called World War 3 because many thought other countries would get heavily involved. It ended in July of 53 with over 5 million soldier and civilian lives lost.

    Rosa Parks
    Rosa Parks is a very influential woman in the African American community. She incited the Montgomery Bus Boycott where she sat in the front of the bus even though back then people of color were not allowed. By doing this she lost her job was fined $10 for breaking the law and and another $4 for court fees.

    The Watergate Scandal began when several men were captured in a office at the Watergate complex in Washington D.C. They were part of Ronald Reagan's reelection campaign, they were caught stealing documents, wire tapping phones. Ronald Reagan resigned from presidency before he could be impeached for lying about the scandal which he had said he had no part of but he actually did.

    Patricia Hearst
    Patricia Hearst was the 19-year old daughter of famous publisher Randolph Hearst. She was kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army from her apartment. Later on with an assault rifle in her hand she helped the Symbionese Liberation Army rob a bank, she was abused and brainwashed to do this. Though she was brainwashed to do this she was found guilty and sentenced to 7 years in prison.

    Christa McAuliffe
    Christa McAuliffe was a teacher from New Hampshire who got picked to be the first civilian to teach children from space and after all her training was complete she was finally ready to go to space, Exactly 73 seconds after take off the rocket exploded. They landed in the ocean and died on impact. It was a very tragic day for the families and for NASA.
