The Vietnam War all started cause of the simple concept of communism. Started in 1959 and ended 1957. The United States was trying to prevent communism from spreading to South Vietnam. North Vietnam was already communist and all the United States was trying to do was contain it. They did not want it CHAPTER 33 PG 979

to spread. This unfortunetly turned into a deadly war. -
Little Rock Nine
Nine black students were finally being admitted into "Little Rock Central High School" in Arkansas.These nine black students too a long and hard fight into finally being let in a whites only high school. Outside the high school would be mobs of white students wanting to beat and harass these nine black students. They would try to prevent the black students from being intergrated into their high school. CHAPTER 29 ; PG 880

Hippie Movement
The Hippie Movement started during the Vietnam War,1960's. Many people opposed the idea of war, all they wanted was peace. Few influetial people were Jesus Christ, Hillel the Elder, Buddha, St. Francis of Assisi, Henry David Thoreau, Gandhi, and many others. Hippies were mostly around 25 years old and rejected the ways of life. -
JFK Assasination
Unfortunetly John F. Kennedy was assasinated November 22,1963 in Dallas, Texas. He was assasinated by Lee Harvey Oswald. Kennedy was shot in the back of car sitting next to his wife Jacqeline. -
Black Panther Party
The Black Panther Party was an idea visioned by Huey P. Newton. After the assination of Malcolm X and MLK this movement started. All this party wanted was equal rights but also wanted white and black to be segreagated. They just wanted be seen and acted as equal as the white people did. -
Landing on the Moon
The world anticipated the very moment when Neil Armstrong landed on the moon July 20,1969. The successful Apollo 11 was the spacecraft used when Neil Armstrong and two other men landed on the moon. -
Ping- Pong Diplomacy
The ping-pong diplomacy was one of the first public hints that China and America were now on good terms. China invited America to come over and verse them in a good game of Ping-Pong. This was the first time America had ever entered since communist takeover. Later on Nixon was also invited to China, he was the first president in that foreign country, China. -
Watergate Scandal
The Watergate Scandal gets its name from the "Watergate Hotel", exactly where the scandal happened. Five men snuck inside the hotel and secretly placed microphones inside the offices. They wanted to overhear conversations so Richard Nixon could be re-elected in office. Unfornetly FBI found out right after Nixon won, and Nixon resigned office. CHAPTER 34 ; PG 1019

Hurricane Carmen
This hurricane started Auguust,29 1974 and dissipated September 10 1974. It was one of the most damaging hurricanes that we have had. It hit very strong for the following places:Puerto Rico, Yucatán Peninsula, Louisiana, other U.S. states. Unfortuently it killed 8 innocent people. -
Apple Inc.
Apple was established by the very famous Steve Jobs. He unfortunetly died recently. Steve Jobs designed, developed, and sold consumer electronics, computer software, and personal computers. Apple is very famous for its line of computers, laptops, iphones and ipods. Apple is the worlds second largest technology company. -

Elvis Aaron Presely was looked up to by many fans during the 20the century. He was known as the "King of Rock and Roll." Elvis started his career around 1954 and later on became very popular.He sang mostly Rock and Roll, Pop,Country, Blues, Gospel, and R&B -
Attempted assasination of Reagan
John Hickley Jr. attempted to assasinate President Ronald Reagan and three other men.Ultimatley no one was killed but Reagan was shot once but recovered very shortly. His vice president at the time took over while Reagan was recovering.John Hickley Jr.fired six shots but only one hit Reagan.
