  • Elvis Presley

    Elvis Presley
    Elvis Presley, or otherwise know as the King of Rock n' Roll, met Forrest Gump in 1952. Forrest danced to Elvis strumming his guitar and Elvis took intrest in the hip shaking Forrest was doing. In 1956, Elvis was on TV and he was shaking his hips and dancing just as Forrest was.
  • Forrest Meets President Kennedy as an All-American Football player

    Forrest Meets President Kennedy as an All-American Football player
    Forrest Gump met President Kenendy, after he was selected as an All-American Football player. In real life, the players actually met Kennedy, so Forrest was green screened into the scene.
  • President Kennedy is assassinated

    President Kennedy is assassinated
    On November 22, 1963, precisely 12:40pm, president Kennedy was assassinated. The assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald was then killed by a club owner two days later.
  • Black Panther Party

    Black Panther Party
    The Black Panther Party was a African American revolutionary leftist organization. They believed in equal rights for everyone and were very anti-war people. In the movie, Jenny took Forrest to a meeting of the Black Panther Party. Famous rapper Tupak Shakur was actually a member, as well as his parents and family members.
  • The Hippie Revolution

    The Hippie Revolution
    The Hippie Movement was a culture shock introducing a new trend into America. Rapidly growing in the mid-60's, the Hippies main belief was expresed by their anti-semitism towards the Vietnam war. In the movie, Jenny actually took part in the Hippie culture and Forrest actually attended a Hippie congregation in Washington D.C.

    Moon Landing
    On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first man ever to land on the moon. The mission itself had 3 members and they all stepped on the moon.
  • Ping Pong Diplomacy

    Ping Pong Diplomacy
    The ping pong diplomacy was an event which involved the U.S. Ping Pong team to verse the Chinese one. The diplomacy eased relations between China and the United States, which was followed by President Nixon's visit to Beijing. Forrest Gump was recovering from a gunshot wound when he discovered ping pong. He became very good at it and got on the National U.S. team.

    John Lennon
    John Lennon was an English musician and singer who was one of the founding members of the band, The Beatles. John Lennon was very rebelious and criticised the Vietnam war. Lennon was part of a televised interview with Dick Cavett, in which Forrest Gump was sat down too.
  • Watergate Scandal

    Watergate Scandal
    The Watergate scandal was a politcal scandal in which a break-in happened in the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington D,C. Several members, including President Nixon, were involved and were forced to resign. Forrest Gump actually watched the break-in happen from the Watergate hotel.

    Hurricane Carmen was the most intense storm of the 1974 hurrican season. It was most intense after is passed the Carribbean sea, into the Gulf of Mexico. The hurricane destroyed many of the ships along the ports in the Gulf. Forrest Gump's boat, "Jenny" survived the storm and Forrest's shrimping buisness prospered after.
  • Vietnam War Ends

    Vietnam War Ends
    The Vietnam war was a conflict between the United States and Vietnam. The main cause was containment of communism and it is said that the Vietnamw as was the first real loss of the United States. Many people criticised the war and thought of it as things like immoral and pointless. Forrest Gump enlisted in the army and fought in the war, returning as a war hero.
  • Reagan Assassination attempt

    Reagan Assassination attempt
    John Hinckley Jr, attempted to kill President Ronald Reagan, 69 days into his presidency. He fails and leaves Reagan with bullet wounds. Hinckley was 10 feet away and still failed to kill him.
