Little Rock Nine
Chapter 34 From Nixon to Carter Section 1. On Monday Septermber 23, 1957 nine african american students headed off to school at A Central HighSchool in Little Rock, Arkansas. Many disagreed with this and riots immediatly broke out. President Eisenhower sent federal troops to school with them to keep them safe. -

The Hippie movement began in the early '60s. Hippies were all about anti war movement and advertising world peace. Many hippies were known for doing drugs such as marijuana and LSD. -

John Lennon was an English singer, musician , and song writier. He became most famous when he became part of the band called the Beatles in the 60's. He died December 8. 1980 from being shot four times. -

JFK was our 35th president. In Dallas Texas he was assassinated by Lee Harvey. He was riding in a motocorde through Dealey Plaza. This assassination was considered to be very controversial. -
Landing on the Moon
The world on tuned it to watch three men go to space. The crew spent over two and a half hours on the moons surface performing experiments. Before leaving they left an American flag to represent their accomplishments. They returned to the Earth on July 24, 1969. -

Alabame experienced their Heyday in the '70s. During the time Bear Bryants was the coach. He was known to be the best long time head coach of Alabama. -
Disco Movement
The Disco Movement was a mixture of different races who would attend different disco clubs. Went from the mid 1970's to the late 1970's. Many loved disco because of the new freedoms that you could express on the dance floor. -
Nixon Resigns
On August 9,1974 Nixon resigns after addressing the nation the night before. He made his resignation in the oval office and was live on radio and television. He stated that he is resigning for the good of the country. -
Hurrican Carmen
One of the most intense storm to hit the United States. Started in Africa and emerged to the U.S. in late August and hit majory in September. It only killed about eight people but made devastated flood and wind damage mainly in Louisana. -
HIV/ Aids outbreak
The first cases of outbreak were reported in June of 1981. Betweens the 80's and the '90s the amount of deaths reported increased dramatically. The United States was the first country to brings AIDs as one of the most feared diseases of our time.
