    Vietnam War
    The war was fought in Vietnam through all the think jungles and mountains which gave the U.S troops a great disadvantage. The war was between the North Vietnamese, who was supported by china and their communist government, and South Vietnamese, who were supported by the U.S and other anti-communist countries.   • Elvis Presley

    Elvis Presley
    Elvis Presley becomes a widespread attraction. His new dance moves, great looks and phenomenal voice “drives teenagers crazy”. During the spring time of 1956 Elvis’ first hit single “Heartbreak Hotel” hit number one on the charts. Evil’s appearance on The Milton Berle activates the first hullabaloo of his career.
  • Bear Bryant and Alabama's football

    Bear Bryant and Alabama's football
    During this time, Alabama University was at its ultimate power in football. Head coach, Paul “Bear” Bryant was leading the team to victory year after year. Throughout Bryant’s twenty five year position as Alabama's head coach, he won six national championships and thirteen conference championships. Bear Bryant goes down in Alabama’s history as the one of the best coaches to have ever coached.

    Integration of Alabama university
    Alabama was ordered to be integrated on May 16, 1963. The school let Vivien Malone and James Hood attend the school during its summer sessions. The integration of this school was, without a doubt, going to have major backlash and problems because it directly went against federal authorities and Governor George Wallace. George Wallace made a campaign a year earlier that he would basically prevent integration at all costs, “even if it required that he stand in the schoolhouse door.”

    President John F. Kennedy was the thirty-fifth president of America. He was assassinated while traveling in a presidential motorcade. Lee Harvey Oswald, alone, was the man who killed Kennedy. To this day, many American’s believe that there are many different plots and cover- ups to this assassination. Conspiracy theories are still created almost every day.

    The Black Panther Party
    The Black Panther Party was founded by Huey Newton in California. The party originally wanted to create the protection of black neighborhoods. Huey and other leaders showed ideas from socialist and Marxist doctrines. The Black Panther Party’s newspaper was first put out in 1967. The party then traveled throughout the United States recruiting members.
  • Assassination of Bobby Kennedy

    Assassination of Bobby Kennedy
    Bobby Kennedy, the brother of former President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated on June 5, 1968. He was shot while campaigning for the presidential election of 1968. He was shot as he entered the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel and then died a little more than a day later in the Good Samaritan Hospital. Sirhan Sirhan, who was a Palestinian/Jordanian immigrant at the age of 24, was the man convicted of the murder and is serving a life sentence jail. Ch. 33 sec 3, War in Vietnam, A Turning Point

    The Summer of '69
    During the early 1960’s the hippie culture developed as a youth movement which began in the United States. It’s fundamental ideas, including harmony with nature, communal living, artistic expression, favoring of nature, recreational use of drugs such as LSD and marijuana eventually spread all over the world.     The fitness Craze
    During the 1970’s, Americans began heavily exercising. They would do anything to improve injuries, flatten a stomach, or handle stress. Physical activities such as dancing, stretching, running, swimming, yoga were used by millions of people every day. “.   • "Imagine" By John Lennon

    The song Imagine was written and sang by English Musician John Lennon. This song shows an aspiring view of wanting freedom, peace and without barriers of nationalities, religion and color of skin. This song was the best-selling of Lennon’s solo career. John Lennon was also one of the original members of the Beatles.
  • George Wallace Shot

    George Wallace Shot
    Wallace announces he is running as a presidential candidate on February 8, 1968. He was previously the Governor of Alabama and thought he would take his political authority a bit farther. There was an assassination attempt that left him paralyzed and he was forced to use a wheel chair for the rest of his life.
  • Disco

    Disco
    During the mid-1970’s to the early 1980’s, a popular genre of music was found and it was called disco. In this type of music there was “funk, soul and Latin influences”. The music was loud and usually people wore bright colorful clothing and very different hair styles. Disco songs were number one on the charts especially when artists such as the Bee Gee’s came out with their new, “far-out” music.
