Easy and New products-One dish meals became common because people would prefer convenience to nutrition. Many new products that were cheap and easy were created by big companies.

Ethnic Foods-This time period was the beginning of ethnic foods entering mainstream America. There were a lot of new tastes brought from Europe and the Pacific. Food companies were quick to start supplying the ingredients for the new foods.

The Safety of our Foods-Americans looked to government assistance, formed customer groups, and tried to better understand the customer's role in food selection. FDA and USDA tried to control food quality and content more closely. A White House Conference in 1969 changed emphasis on nutrition and good food. The Fair Practices Labeling Act led to nutrition labeling and a change in knowing what food was good for you and what wasn't.

Safety-The international HACCP Alliance was formed in 1994. This program ensures safer meat and poultry products.
