  • Beggining of Ice Hockey

    It originated around 1800, in Windsor, where the boys of Canada’s first college, King’s College School, established in 1788, adapted the exciting field game of Hurley to the ice of their favorite skating ponds and originated a new winter game, Ice Hurley. Over a period of decades, Ice Hurley gradually developed into Ice Hockey.
  • First rules of Ice hockey

    The first rules for the game were established by Canadian J.G.A. Creighton. In 1875, the first game of ice hockey with Creighton's rules was played in Montreal, Canada.
  • First Amateur Hockey League

    The Amateur Hockey Association of Canada was an amateur mens ice hockey league formed in 1886. The league played with the rules of that time and had four teams in Montreal, one in Ottawa and one in Quebec City, Canada.
  • The Goal Net invention

    The goal net was introduced to the game of hockey in 1900 soon after the introduction of two goal posts.The Niagara players of the Southern Ontario Hockey Associationhad had, in order to avoid arguments over fair goals, tied a fishing net between the two goal posts to form the first true hockey net and the idea quickly spread.
  • First U.S. Ice Hockey Game

    In the first game played in the United States, the Motreal Maroons loose to the Bostin Bruins by 2-1.
  • Floor Hockey invented

    Floor hockey was invented in 1962 in Battle Creek, Michigan. With the help of Tim Harter rules and regulations were created to help turn a game into a sport. Floor Hockey is a sport that is branched from the original sport of ice hockey. Floor hockey is now a game that is played indoors, being played in thousands of physical education classes
  • Creation of CBHA

    The Canadian Ball Hockey Association (CBHA) was formed in 1991 to provide more formal leagues of ball-based floor hockey.[6] The CBHA runs leagues for men, women, and juniors, and organizes National Championships for each division.[7]
  • College intramural rules created

    In 2003, the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association Hockey Committee released a baseline set of rules for intramural floor hockey for college campuses across the United States.
