    The novel was critically acclaimed, became the winner of the science-fiction "triple crown": Nebula Award, the Philip K. Dick Award, and the Hugo Award. It is heralded as the first big cyberpunk book from which Gibson made his début as a writer of the genre.

    The building’s aesthetic design is inspired by cyberpunk themes. The environment is comprised of towers illuminated by techno-coloured lightings, a giant kaleidoscope shaped ceilings and structures made mostly out of fibreglass. This design close resembles the cyberpunk depiction of futuristic cities, signifying the genre’s impact on art and society.
