As students progress through their grade levels, continuity of learning quality is maintained. Students transferring from other schools can continue similarly from whatever school they are coming from. Without standardization, it is difficult to know if students are learning what they need to be learning.

Without more creative approaches to education, many students would not progress as well as their peers and their potential could be lost. Looking at the student individually, and using different teaching approaches is important as it puts the focus on the student. Doing this ensures each students needs are met.

    The Little Rock Nine are Prevented from Entering School
    Segregation was finally deemed unfair and schools were to begin desegregation so all students could attend the same schools. The Little Rock Nine showed our country bravery and pushed desegregation forward when too many people were trying to stop it. All children deserve a good education regardless of their social status, race, or sex.

    The Nation at Risk report started a conversation about illiteracy in the United States and worked to raise standards in schools so our country would compete better on a global scale. Educators need to keep learning and improving their teaching. As society changes, so too should teachers. Higher standards are necessary to foster improvement and growth. As teachers grow, their students are affected in a positive way.

    No Child Left Behind Act
    Through the many ups and downs of this act, teachers and politicians learned more about what works and what doesn't when it comes to creating accountability in education. Negative experiences can grow positive results by creating new ideas to solve problems. People in education need to be constantly questioning and testing methods and results. Society is changing and methods need to change along with it, but with sensitivity and awareness that can only be found through experience.
