The first railway was wooden and the carts were drawn by horses. It ws used to transport coal and supplies between quarries. This lead to a new mode of trasnportation as steam engines were designed, railways were truned to metal and passengers began to use them. -
Clara Barton joins civil war effort

Although the date is not exact, April of 1861 is when Clara Barton starting working behind the lines in the Civil War. She and others she directed were responible for saving many critically injured soliders on the battlefields. Clara went on to found the Red Cross. -
