    The Manchu Dynasty
    In the early 1600s invaders from Manchuria swept into China.
    They had toppled the Ming dynasty, chinas ruler.
    The Manchu had established their captial at Peking.
    They won the Confucian class support.
    Claiming they had recieved the Mandate of Heaven, they had founded a new dynasty.
    The Manchu Dynasty ruled China from1644-1911
    I chose this event because it changed China wyas for a long amount of time.
  • Independence for Mexico and Central America

    Independence for Mexico and Central America
    The Mexican war for independence dragged on
    A conservative who had once thought Spain, declared Mexico and independent state
    Because Spain had few remain supporters it was forced to recognize Mexican independence
    I chose this event because I thought it was really important that Mexico gained independence
  • Brazil gains independence

    Brazil gains independence
    After the defeat of Napoleon, the Portuguese king returned home.
    But he left his son, Prince Pedro, in charge of Brazil.
    The creoles asked Prince Pedro to declare Brazil independence
    They offered to make him ruler of the new nation
    Pedro was proclaimed Emperor Pedro I
    He agreed to the constitution of freedom from religion, press, and elected legislature
    I chose this event because it showed how Brazil gained their independence

    Treaty of Nanking
    The chinese were forced to sign this humilating treaty
    Under the treaty, China agreed to recieve foreign diplomats and open more ports to foriegn trade.
    Britian Acquired the island of Hong Kong and was paid for the opium destroyed by the Chinese.
    I chose this event because it showed how unequal treaties were.

    US gains territory
    Mexico became involved in a war with the United States
    Many people from the United States had settled in Texas, an area that belonged to Mexico
    The settlers defeated Santa Anna's forces and declared Texas and independent republic
    Texas became part of the United States
    Another war broke out from 1846 to 1848
    Mexico have lost almost half of its territory to the United States
    Including California, Nevada, Utah, parts of Arizona, Colorado and Mexico to the United States

    The Taiping Rebellion
    Internal unrest continue to begin the Manchu dynasty.
    Discontent with the Manchu rule led to A widespread peasant uprising
    The rebels were inspired by a mixture of ancient Chinese traditions and ideas learned from Christian missionaries
    Their leaders demanded reforms such as redistribution And to poor peasants, and end too high taxes, and equality for men and women.
    The Chinese government had to open more reports to foreign trade and make opium trade legal

    Bismark masterminded the Triple Alliance
    Which brought Italy into the alliance betweeb Germany and Austria-Hungary.
    Because the Italians have not been able to block French influence in Tunisia, they willingly joined Germany and Austria -hungary
    I chose this because it was a big alliance in WW1

    There was a diplomatic isolation of France
    France seized an opportunity to ally itself with Russia
    Russia excepted the French offer of friendship because it was at odds with Austria Hungary and was worried about German power
    France and Russia signed a military agreement
    Under this packed, if either France or Russia were attacked by any member of the triple alliance, the other nation become too it's aid
    I chose this event because this is another alliance in World War I

    Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia
    Over the next few days the alliance system began to operate
    The next day a Russian ordered a general mobilization of his Armed Forces.
    Germany asked Russia to cancel the mobilization order
    If they did not the Germans warned, War would begin
    When Russia did not reply, Germany declared war on Russia
    I chose this event because there a big event that still remember today as World War I

    Riots broke out in Petrograd
    Mobs roam the streets demanding bread and peace
    Hungry rioters looted bakeries
    Many of the troops ordered to put down revolt mutinied and joined the protesters
    The duma for a provisional government and called for the election of assembly to draw up a constitution for Russia
    I chose this event because I thought it was important to the chapter

    In the 1920s and 1930s, British mandate of palestine was the source of growing tension between a rave and Jewish national list
    Britain had issued this
    Which said that Brandon would view with favor of establishment and palstine of a national home for Jewish people

    Bolsheviks moved against the headquarters of the provisional government in Petrograd
    The provisional government had lost most of its popular support because it had failed to restore the moral of Russia troops, many of whom were deserting and returning home
    As a result the Bolsheviks met only light resistance
    They seized government buildings, the railway station, telephone exchanges and electrical lighting plans
    I chose this event because I thought it was important in this chapter

    Lenin's New Ecomic Policy
    Lenin announced a new economic policy, a program designed to rebuild the shattered Russian economy
    NEP eliminated many harsh measures of war communism and permitted the return of capitalist practices
    To encourage farm production, the government stop siezing grain
    Peasents were encouraged to sell their surplus grain on the open market
    The government control of industry, railroads and things but it allowed a small manufacturers to run their own businesses
    This changed the ways of Russia

    In 1923, the worst year of German Inflation, which was after the war
    A person had to fill a wheel barrow with money to simply buy a loaf of bread.
    A newspaper cost 100 billion marks
    Millions of Germans that had found their savings had become worthless
    The hardships caused by the inflation of the 1920s contributed to a political unrest
    I chose this event because it was a very hard time for Germany and it just made them stronger

    Stock prices tumbled, causing panic investors to sell at a loss
    A total market value of stocks traded on the New York Stock Exchange has fallen by about $30 billion
    American businesses have failed
    Unemployment rocketed from 3.2% to 23.6%
    I chose this event because it was a big event in history where American had a huge fall

    Spain had experienced much unrest
    In 1931 King had been forced to step down
    A republican government had been set up
    The new government was controlled by liberals and socialists
    Under its leadership, the Catholic Church lost its status of the country's official religion and much of it was confiscated
    The government also reduced the size of the army
    I chose this event because it changed the Spanish Ways

    During a punishment to our grade, the Japanese or badly damaged the American battleship, 10 other ships, destroyed 188 plays and killed over 2500 Americans

    I chose this event because it is a very important event in history and caused a war

    The split led to the growth of rival military alliances
    Representatives of the United States, Canada, and ten Western Eurpeon nations signed a mutual defense treaty creating North Atlantic Treaty Organization
    Members agreed to a nation attacked by an outsider
    By joining and a, United States committed himself to defend western Europe against Soviet agression

    After world Korea was divided into two groups
    Soviet backed North Korean troops invaded the south
    With the approval of the united nations, the United States came to aid the South Koreans
    After three years of better fighting, ACs fire was signed in July 1953
    The invasion of South Korea have been repelled and the boundary between North and South Korea was restored
    I chose this event because I thought it was an important part of the chapter

    From 219 million to an estimated of 645 million
    Improvements in health care, such as new medicines and clinics, Contributed to the skyrocketing numbers
    Rapid population growth closed serious problems
    Some countries had food output and could not keep up with the population
    Natural disasters such as drought happened
    I chose this because it was a big part in the development of Africa

    Representatives from 30 African-Americans signed a charter sounding the organization of African unity, OAU
    The goals of Olay you are to promote African unity, encourage economic cooperation, settle issues that arise among members, and support the struggle for independence of black Africans across the continent
    Today the OAU includes all African nations except the Republic of South Africa
    The unity is still used today

    Although south Africa those independent, the white minority controlled the government

    By 1968, 38 new nations have emerged in Africa

    South Vietnamese forces were supposed to take greater responsibility for the fighting so that American troops could be withdrawn
    However to support south Vietnam during the American pull out, Nixon resumed the bombing of north Vietnam and authorize the invasion of neighboring Cambodia
    Those actions and testified the antiwar protests
