    Berlin Wall
    The Berlin Wall was a concrete barrier which was built during the cold war that seperated east berlin and west berlin. Everyone on the east side of the wall wanted to come to the west side of the wall because it was noncommunist. America eventually sent supply drops to west berlin.
  • Cuban Missle Crisis

    Cuban Missle Crisis
    United States found out about nuclear missle sites in Cuba. This was part of the cold war at which we just pointed nuclear bombs at eachother. Thankfully it ended peacefully due to John F. Kennedy and no bombs went off.
  • Kennedy Assassination

    Kennedy Assassination
    At 12:30PM friday November 22, 1963 John F. Kennedy was traveling with his wife in a convertible car while he was shot. A ten month investigation concluded that Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald. Jack Ruby murdered Lee before he could stand trial.

    An attack on U.S ships off the coast of north vietnam led to the Tonkin Resolution. After this president Johnson was allowed to send massive air attacks on north vietnam. Eventually north vietnam surrendered the attack.

    Hippies were all about peace, love, and individual freedom. They shunned and disliked everything having to do with war. These were major nature lovers and would sometimes have peaceful protests.

    The Immigration Act of 1965 ended a discriminatory immigration law that restricted immigrants entry into the United States. New immigration law allowed immigrants access to the United States from their skills/ professions.

    Rock n Roll is a combination of different types of music styles and special effects to create a vivid experience. The birth of Rock n Roll was mainly the 1960s WoodStock where Hippies loved the music. Also Elvis Presley was a big part in making rock n roll popular.

    "We only have on Earth, so we need to take care of her." Is what Senator Gaylord Nelson creator of Earth day said. Earth Day is the day where a lot of workers helped to clean up the enviorment. After the success of this day congress passed the clean water act and the safe drinking water act.

    After the invasion of cambodia antiwar protests increased by 100%. The most violent one being the Kent State Shootings was an incident with four college students. During an antiwar protest national guard troops fired into an angry crowd killing four students.

    Enviormental Protection Agency
    The Enviormental protection agency was created by Richard Nixon to protect Americans health and the Natural Enviorment. The EPA is still used today to settle disputes about the enviorment. The Agency has thousands of employees to improve the enviorment.

    Gender equality implies that women and men should recieve equal treatment. This was a problem for women because they were not equaly treated. Sometimes they would have equal speeches.

    On March 28 1979 the Three Mile Island power plant had an incident in which large amounts of nuclear reactor coolant escaped. This incident showed the world just how nuclear energy could be.

    Reagen sent U.S. peacekeeping forces to Lebanon. These troops helped secure the withdrawl of the Palestine Liberation Organization. But terrorist attacks later forced Reagan to pull the soldiers out.

    Reagans main goal during his presidency to shrink the government. He did lots of things to shrink the government including reduce spending on social programs, and fewer regulations on business and the enviorment. During this time he lowered taxes which really helped the economy.

    Nuclear freeze movement
    The Nuclear freeze movement was a movement to stop the nuclear arms build up in America. The largest rally for nuclear freeze was at central park where a million anti war activists protested about nuclear arms. The movement ended the spread of nuclear weapons.
  • Foreign Policy after the Cold War

    After the Cold War the Soviet Union went over dramatic changes. Mikhail Gorbachev took over the union and split it into 15 different Republics. Communists were swept out of power there and throughout Eastern Europe.
  • Intermediate-Range Nuclear Treaty

    Intermediate-Range Nuclear Treaty
    The intermediate-Range Nuclear Treaty was an agreement between the United States,and the Soviet Union. The agreement was that they would lessen the range of their missles so they couldn't hit eachother. This treaty caused the collapse and end of the Cold War.
  • Fighting Terrorists

    After the 9/11 attack on the world trade centers fighting terrorists got more serious. The war in Afghanistan and Iraq started shortly after that. After a while we killed the leader in the attack, Osama Bin Laden on May 2, 2011. To this day were are still fighting those countries.
  • Occupy Wall Street Protests - Equality

    Couple days after 9/11 there was a protest on Equality in the Airport and Airlines. People asked themselves should all airline passengers be treated equally, or should passengers fitting the 9/11 terrorist profiles be treated differently. The protests also pointed out the huge gap between the rich and poor.
  • Department of Homeland Defense Security

    The Department of Homeland Security was created to improve the ability of U.S. security agencies to protect from terrorists. The DHS improved communication among its agencies. Its agencies and the public and otherwise secure Americans' liberty.
