Growth is very rapid at this point. The embryo is now an inch long. The fingers are distinct and veins begin to show. The major organs continue to develop; such as the hear dividing into two chambers. At this point the bones are starting to form. By the end of this month the placenta has formed along with the umbilical cord.

The fetus is now one inch long. Facial features such as nostrils, moth, lips, teeth buds, and eyelids are forming. By now the fingers and toes are almost done forming. You can hear the baby's heart beat during an ultrasound. All the organs have formed at this point although they are still premature.

The baby at this point is nearly 3 inches long and weights around an ounce. The baby can now hiccup, suck thumb, and swallow. The baby has began to kick at this time. Lanugo is now present along with clear facial features.

Vernix begins to appear covering the baby's skin. The baby now has hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows that begin to appear. The teeth and organs continue to develop and mature. At this time the baby becomes more active, and is nearly eight inches long.

The baby is between eight and ten inches long at this stage, and weighs around a pound and a half. Fat deposits begin under the skin although the baby still looks wrinkly. Breathing movements begin in this month. The baby can now hear the mother talk or sing.

The baby weighs between one and a half and two pounds, and is eight to ten inches long. Fingernails have now formed covering the baby's fingertips. Activity is now followed by rest. The fetus at this point could live outside the womb with a lot of medical assistance.

The baby is between two and a half and three pounds, and is around fourteen to sixteen inches long. The body is well-formed at this stage, and begins to move into head down position. The baby at this time may react to loud noises with a reflex jerking

The baby is ready for delivery weighing between five and six pounds and will continue to gain weight till birth. The baby is between seventeen and eighteen inches. Fatty deposits continue, and , movement slows due to lack of space. The baby takes fetal position and moves into the mothers pelvis awaiting birth.

The egg is released from the ovum, and is fertilized by the sperm in the fallopian tube. The fertilized egg then attaches to uterine wall. Next, the egg begins to grow by cell division. The internal organs and circulatory systems are forming. By the end of this month the heart beat begins. Bumps show the beginning stages of limb growth. The zygote is only the size of a pinhead by the end of this month, and is nearly a tenth on an inch long.
