  • 6 Weeks

    6 Weeks
    The nose, mouth, and ears are begginging to take shape. The baby's eyes and nostrils are also starting to form. The heart is beating 100 to 160 times a minute, almost as twice as fast as ours, and blood is beggining to course through the body. The intestines are developing and the bud of the tissue that will give rise to the lungs has appeared. The rest of the brain, muscles, and bones are forming, and right now the baby is a quarter of an inch long. www.babycenter.com
  • 9 Weeks

    9 Weeks
    The baby is nearly an inch long and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. It's starting to look more human. The heart finishes into dividing into four chambers and the valves start to form as well as the tiny teeth. The eyes are fully formed, but the eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. Tiny earlobes, mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta a developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. www.babycenter.com
  • 12 Weeks

    12 Weeks
    Everything is now reflexing. The baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, the toes will curl, the eye muscles will clench, and the mouth will make suckling movements. The intestines will start to move in the abdominal cavity, and the kidneys will begin excreting urine into the bladder. Meanwhile, nerve cells are ocurring rapidly in the baby's brain. The eyes have moved from the side to the front of the head. Now the baby is just over 2 inches and weighs half an ounce. www.babycenter.com
  • 15 Weeks

    15 Weeks
    The growing baby now measures about 4 inches long and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces. The legs are growing longer than the arms and it can move all of its joints and limbs. Although, the eyelids are still fused shut, but it can sense light. There's not much for the baby to taste at this point, but taste buds are forming. If you have an ultrasound at this point, there can be a chance of whether your having a boy or girl. www.babycenter.com
  • 18 Weeks

    18 Weeks
    The baby is 5 1/2 inches long and weighs almost 7 ounces. It's busy flexing its arms and legs. The blood vessels are visible through its thin skin, and its ears are in its final position. If your having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If your having a boy, his genitalis are noticeable now. www.babycenter.com
  • 23 Weeks

    23 Weeks
    The baby's sense of movement is well developed by now. Now it's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound. Blood vessels in the lungs are developing to prepare for breathing. www.babycenter.com
  • 28 Weeks

    28 Weeks
    The baby weighs two and a quarter pounds and measures 14.8 inches from the top of the head to the heels. It can blink its eyes now which means it can start to sport lashes. Also, the baby is developing billions of neurons in the brain and is adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world. www.babycenter.com
  • 33 Weeks

    33 Weeks
    The baby weighs a little over 4 pounds and has passed the 17 inch mark. It's rapidly losing the wrinkled, alien look and the skeleton is hardening. Also, the bones in its skull aren't fused together yet. www.babycenter.com

    36 Weeks
    The baby weighs 6 pounds and is more than 8 1/2 inches long. Now the baby starts to shred most of the downy covering of hair that also covered the body as well in the amniotic sac for the past 9 months. www.babycenter.com

    40 Weeks
    The baby is already grown. The average newborn weighs about 7 1/2 pounds and is about 20 inches long. The skull bones are yet not fused also. The baby is ready to come into the outside world ! www.babycenter.com
