  • Battle of Lexington & Concord

    The battle of lexington & concord started the american revolution. Which started cause the colonist were getting taxed without representation. Evidently the americans won that war and the british retreated back to boston.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    The battle of saratoga was a battle fought in the american revolution.This was the turning point of the war this battle said that we could hold are own on the battle field. At least the french throught so they decided to help us to hurt great britain.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    So the battle of yorktown is the most it's when america won independence from britain. It also was cornwalli's first defeat by the hand of the americans and the french. This was important cause the colonist won their freedom.
  • Northwest Ordinance

    The northwest ordinance(land ordinance) helped us to gain u.s. states above the ohio river. It also did two important things for the north it outlawed slavery in the new territories and it protected civil liberties.
  • Alien & Sedition Acts

    It showed us that not oly do we need a immigration law to stop haveing unwanted aliens in the U.S. It also tell us that law has to be a consititutional law for it to pass after this period of time.
  • Virginia & Kentucky Resolution

    See the alien & sedition act had been already pass and had some tariffs too so James Madison made up somthing called the Virginia plan to get out from under the that tariff. Another man named Thomas Jefferson wanted more than just what the virgina plan the creation of the Kentucky plan his plan states,"The state had the power to nullify uncostitutional federal laws
  • Marbury v. Madison

    Marbury v. Madison is a court case were madison is commanded to say something that Madison commanded to say before he resigned. The case made somthing we use to day called judicial review which means to look over a law and see if it's consititutial
  • Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase bought by Thomas Jefferson and he afterwards said sorry and wrote a constitutional law saying he could cause the consitituton didn't mention it. The louisiana purchase gives us control of the mississippi river and the port city New Orleans.
  • Missouri Compromise

    It admitted Missouri as a slave state and Maine as a free state. Drew the line for the expansion of slavery at 36 degrees / 30 degrees.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    The monroe doctrine is a policy that the united states seperates it's self from the europens problems. The policy states that, "Any attempt by a European power to oppress or control any nation in the Western Hemisphere would be viewed as a hostile act against the United States".
  • Nullification Crisis

    The federal government passed very high protective tariff, which angered the South, John C. Calhoun attempted to nullify the tariff stating South Carolina wouldn't pay. Andrew Jackson wanted to maintain that the federal government was stronger than that of the state
  • Texas Annexation

    Texas was won by the american's by winning the mexian-american war on october 2, 1835. Their was a problem about weather it was a slave or free state which took 10 years.Then James K. Polk became the president one of the stongest reason of him winning the presidentice was he wanted to annex texas.The anexation texas on December 29, 1845 was a big part of the nation because the people who declared independence from mexico. And the U.S. got control of the southwest and california.
  • Oregon Treaty

    Oregon was founded by lewis and clark and was lead to the oregon treaty. This treaty ended all ties between the U.S. and great britain.
  • Mexican Cession

    The mexican cession was a result of america winning the mexican-american war. The mexican cession is a term that the mexican owned territory was now the property of the united states.
  • Compromise of 1850

    It introduced the principle of popular sovereignty to decide the slave question. California is admitted as a free state. Sale of slaves but not slavery was prohibited in the capital.
  • Kansas - Nebraska Act

    Both sides sent supporters to sway the votes. With both pro and anti slavery supporters to sway voting, things turned violent and became known as Bleeding Kansas.
  • Bleeding (Bloody) Kansas

    It was a series of violent civil confrontations in the United States. This led to the emergence of the Republic Party.
  • Battle of Fort Sumter

    There were no casualties during the Confederate bombardment of Fort Sumter at the start of the American Civil War.The only Union deaths came during the evacuation.The Battle of Fort Sumter was the first battle of the American Civil War.
  • Battle of Bull Run

    This battle of bull run was fought in the civil war when three comanders from the union army.They marched in on the confederate army at bull run. Remember they were fighting to either keep or get rid of slavery
  • Battle of Antietam

    The Union victory at Antietam resulted in President Abraham Lincoln issuing his Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation on September 22, 1862. Over 23,000 men fell as casualties in the one-day Battle of Antietam, making it the bloodiest day in American history. The Battle of Antietam was one of the most important events of the American Civil War. The battle ended the Confederate invasion of Maryland in 1862 and resulted in a Union victory.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    The emancipation proclamation is a speech that led the union on a different path a path to freeing slaves. The union even lets free slaves fight on their side and help the union win.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    The Emancipation Proclamation document that was issued by President Abraham Lincoln. Was because their was a struggle whether states were free or slave. So the emancipation proclamation said that every state in th northen border are now proclamed free. The emancipation proclamation led to the abolishment a slavery in the U.S. But dosen't lead to blacks having all their rights.

    Union forces waged a campaign to take the Confederate stronghold of Vicksburg, Mississippi. this was a crucial for the union to win so the could have a foothole when it came to the navy.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    The battle of gettysburg was a sucess at stoping Robert E. Lee from invading a second time.This battle lated three days with more 5,000 men died in this war. This war was the bloodest war at the time robert e. lee got a major victory over general joseph hooker which was the turning ponit of the war.
  • Gettysburg Address

    The gettysburg address is a pice solely on equality. President Abraham Lincoln even qoute the declaration of independence and says that the deaths of the civil war is a desires of,"A new birth of freedom".
  • 13th amendment passed

    In the 13th amendment their is mention of abolishing slavery and their is mention of stoping involuntary servitude. In Congress this law it was passed by the Senate on April 8, 1864, and by the House on January 31, 1865.
  • 14th amendment passed

    This law is another law that helps black's fit into the american stand point of government, laws, economy, and socail status. Granted citizenship and equal civil and legal rights to African Americans and slaves who had been emancipated after the American Civil War.
  • 15th amendment passed

    The 15th Amendment to the Constitution granted African American men the right to vote. Declaring that the "right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude."
  • Plessy v. Ferguson

    Plessy v. Ferguson was a landmark decision of the U.S. Supreme Court issued in 1896.It upheld the constitutionality of racial segregation laws for public facilities as long as the segregated facilities were equal in quality.A doctrine that came to be known as "separate but equal".
