On that night, Fred Tayama was beaten by 6 men, and was taken to the hospital. They were beating him up, because people were asking and protesting for better food, and wages. -

On August 6th, an atomic bomb falls on Hiroshima, Japan. -
World war ends
After th bomb was dropped on Japan, they gave up and th US won the world war. However, poeple still hated the japenese, and were cruel to them, sometimes lighting their houses on fire. -
Leaving Manzanar
Jeanne leaves the camp, and she is eleven. -

Even when she was chosen to be the carnival queen, but she was worried aobut how other will think of her, as the japenese girl. People still did not like Japenese people, so Jeanne had a hard time. -

Jeanne becomes carnival queen, but Papa wanted her to not do it. -
Papa's death
Papa dies 12 years after he comes out of the camp. -

Jeanne and her family go back and visit the ruiins of Manzanar camp.
