Moctezuma was the fifth aztec emperor of Tenochtitlan. He took power in 1414. One of the aztecs greatest achievements while he ruled were the double aqueduct pipe system, supplying Tenochtitlan with fresh water.

Amerigo Vespucci was a Florentine, who went along on several voyages. On the first of his voyages, he was aboard the ship the discovered the South America extended further than previously thought. His letters describing the lands he saw, led to the use of the name America (after Amerigo) for the new lands.

Ferdinand Magellan persuaded the King of Spain to finance his voyage to Asia through the Western Hemisphere. He set sail in September 1519 down the coast of South America in search of a sea passage through America. In December of 1530, Francisco Pizarro landed on the Pacific Coast of South America. He had only a small band of about 180 mean. Like Hernan Cortes, he brought steel weapons, gun powder, and horses. Pizarro was a Spanish conquistador, who conquered the Inca Empire.
