    The Black Death
    The Black Death was a major plauge that swept through Europe and killed 25 million people, 1/3 of the European population. It originated in Central Asia when the Mongols tried to capture Caffa in Crimea and hurled their infected dead over the city wall. From there it hopped aboard rats, who hopped on ships. It hit all of Europe by 1350.

    The First Guns Appear in Europe
    The first guns appear in Europe. They were crude and not very good for killing, but it can scare the heck out of you if you don't know what it is. They helped scare the Incas so Pizarro could capture them easily. They would be the stepping stone for the flintlock guns used in the 16-1700's and a precoursor for modern-day rifles.

    Cape of Good Hope
    The first Caravels are built. These were smaller ships and faster than that of the older ships. Also, for the first time an asian ship enters the Atlantic Ocean by going around the Cape of Good Hope. This would help Asians get to Western Europe much faster.

    Guttenburg Bible is Printed
    The Guttenberg Bible is printed on a printing press that uses moveable type. The invention made it possible to print books inexpensively and, as a result, knowledge spread more rapidly than ever before in World History. This was the fastest up until the Postage Express a few hundred years later.

    In Portugal, the first auctions of black slaves start. They were shipped up from the west coast of Africa. This was a huge point in history as the rascism from this date in history lasts even today. Thus, this is not only a big date in American history, it is big for World History.

    The Moslem Turks capture Constantinople. This is considered by some historians as the start of the Renaissance period. After this, the Genoese put financial support behind the Portugese in efforts to find a new trade route to Asia. This is the end for the Byzantine Empire, and unoffically the Roman Empire and culture as a whole.

    He is the first European to reach the Cape of Good Hope. He starts other expeditions to asia. The Portugese got some slaves that way too. And he found a new trade route.

    Colombus sails the ocean in 1492. He discovers the West Indies in the New World. The Last Moslems are driven from Spain. Colombus didn't understand the success and mistake of his mission.

    He discovers the American continent but thinks it is part of Asia. He was the first to discover the continent of America. It led to other expeditions. Then that led to the USA being formed.

    Smallpox is brought to the Americas by the Spaniards. This starts to wipe out the native populations of the Americas. This would bring about New Spain. This pandemic would plague the Americas for a few hundred years.

    The Aztecs fall to spanish forces. The capital of New Spain (current day Mexico City) is built on the ruins of Tenochitlan. This is the end of the Aztecs and opens up a new realm for Spain. This leads to Mexico being spanish.

    Atahuallpa is hanged by Pizzaro. He was the Incan emperor. Spain conquers the Inca empire which was already being destroyed by a smallpox epidemic and civil war. It was easy for the Spainsh to capture the Incas.

    Sir Francis Drake becomes the first Englishman to circumnavigate the world. This is signifigant because this helps the British have part of the New World which plays a key part in American history and world history. It took him three years. He did it with help from Great Britian.

    Jamestown, the first established English colony, is founded. It was the most important colony because it was the first established colony. Roanoke Island was first from the English, but it did not last. Jamestown was one of the most profitable, too.

    There are many reasons that I chose the events that I did. The reason I chose the Black Plague is because without it, we would not have the Renaissance. The reason I chose the guns is because without it we would not have this major war technology. The first caravels helped speed up sea travel. The bible being printed cheaply led knowledge to spread faster. The slaves I chose because it is important to American and World History.The turks capturing constantinople ends Byzantine Rule...
  • Why did you choose these Events? part 2

    and Roman thought (sort of). Bartholomeu, Colombus discovering West Indies and the Americas I chose because is the start of The Superpower that is(or was, some may argue) the United States of America and that affected the World Wars. SMallpox is a major epidemic. The other events, all exploration related, I chose because it shapes the world even today.
