    Espergaerde Gymnasium, Denmark
    Studied in Denmark for one year post-high school graduation. Completed the final (third) year of gymnasium, underwent oral and written exams, and graduated from Espergaerde Gymnaisum. Participated in two extracurricular musicals (one with the lead role). Recipient of the Wiibroe-Galtschiotske stipendium award.

    Junior Recital: Kirstine Odegard, soprano
    Capstone performance in partial fulfillment of degree requirements for BA in music. Joint performance with mezzo-soprano Marie-Cecile Wijnan. 30 minutes of music prepared by each performer, as well as program notes giving historical and artistic context.

    Capstone performance. Full hour of solo vocal music, created program notes giving historical and artistic context to the repertoire. In partial fulfillment for the degree of BA in music, vocal performance.
  • Biloxi Boomerang- Katrina response

    Biloxi Boomerang- Katrina response
    Co-led a group of students in traveling to the Gulf Coast to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. Worked with Lutheran Disaster Response and Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia on a range of projects, from sorting donations to clearing trees and doing final stages of mucking out houses. Included co-curricular educational aspects and reflection elements.

    Year number two, returned with a group fo 28 students to Biloxi, MS to partner with Project REHAB. Experience included educational and reflection aspects for participants to complement the building of homes and the conversations with locals and homeowners.

    Approximately 14 students traveled to Florida to work with Lutheran Disaster Response to rebuild after hurricanes damaged the area in Florida a few years prior. Students did manual labor and spent time in the evenings reflecting and learning about PTSD and rebuilding.

    Biloxi Boomerang 3
    A group of approximately 16 students traveled to Biloxi MS to continue the rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Katrina. Working with Fuller Center Disaster Rebuilders, students engaged in the contruction work, but also in nightly reflection and learning around the rebuilding process.

    A team of 9 students traveled to El Salvador to work with Habitat for Humanity El Salvador to build homes. Time was spent in the evening engaging in reflection and exploring some academic content around globalization, housing, politics, and liberation theology.

    A group of approximately 14 students traveled to Biloxi, MS to work in Gulfport and Bay St. Louis to rebuild area homes. A focus on PTSD, the local and federal aspects of redevelopment were explored through evening reflection and discussions.

    A group of students traveled to El Salvador. Students built during the day and in the evenings reflected on and discussed what they had learned about Bishop Oscar Romero and the civil war, and liberation theology in the role of the people and how they experience poverty.

    A group of 13 students returned to the Gulf Coast to work in Bay St. Louis, MS to rebuild in local homes still trying to recover from the damage of Hurrican Katrina. Students built homes during the day and got to explore a number of topics in the evenings through reflection and discussion, including cross-cultural interaction (via another Mennonite group that was visiting as well as the local Gulf Coast residents) redevelopment (civic nonprofit leaders) and psychological aspects of rebuilding.

    A team of 12 students traveled to Mexico to spend a week learning about a range of issues impacting Mexico and to see how they intersected with the US. ELCA Mexico facilitated the immersion trip, spending time in Mexico City and Cuernavaca (at CCIDD). Globalization, militarization, poverty, indigienous rights, and land rights were explored.

    A team of 7 students traveled to Orange, TX to rebuild after the recent hurricanes had damaged their region. Students built during the day and spent evening time reflecting on the culture and tradition of Mardi Gras, the process of working with municipalities to implement rebuilding, and the psychological processes of surviving a disaster and rebuilding.

    Students traveled to El Salvador in a team of 10 participants. They spent the week exploring the ripple effects of the civil war and how the country has rebuilt, the peoples' movements, local cooperatives (medical and agricultural), the role of religion, and more.

    Study Abroad: Loyola University Chicago's John Felice Rome Center
    Traveled with fourteen fellow graduate students to Rome and participated in graduate coursework "Global and Cultural Dimensions of Leadership: Lessons form Rome." The class used the backdrop of Rome to compare, contrast and connect leadership theory, cultural value orientations, historical events and groups, and implications for today's world.

    Alternative Break  Fall Immersion to Pilsen, Chicago
    Group of 8 students traveled to the rich community of Pilsen in Chicago to learn about immigration, environmental, and worker justice. The experience included living simply, picketing in downtown Chicago, hearing from DREAM students, discussions on policy, reflecting on justice and social change, and more.

    Inspiring Leadership Development: The Roles of Social Perspective-Taking and Resiliency
    As part of a research team, presented research findings at 2013 ACPA national conference. Data was collected as part of international research administered with the Multi-Institutional Study of Leadership. The research team spent an academic year doing a literature review, analyzing data, presenting findings at a confrence, and refining the manuscript for submission for publication.
