Sega Genesis
Although the Sega Genesis was not as popular as it's competitors in Japan, it was a big success in North America. The success of the Genesis is largely due to it's Sega exclusive game, Sonic the Hedgehog, and it's youth marketing.

Nintendo 64
The Nintendo 64 was released with two games for North America, Super Mario 64, and Pilotwings 64. It was originally priced at $199.99 at launch. The Nintedo 64 was named the 9th greatest gaming console of all time by IGN, and Time magazine called it the machine of the year in 1996.

Made by Sony, the Playstation 2 was the best selling video game console of all time, selling over 155 million units. More than 3,874 game titles have been released for the Playstation 2. finally discontinued in 2013 after 13 years of production, the Playstation 2 became one of the longest running gaming consoles.

Microsoft xbox
The Microsoft Xbox, was the most graphically powerful console of it's time, featuring an Intel Pentium III processor. The Xbox introduced Xbox Live, a fee-based service that allowed players to play games online with a broadband connection, which gave Xbox an early foothold in online gaming. The Xbox's most popular game was Halo 2.

Playstation 4
Successor to the Playstation 3, the Playstation 4 featured a n AMD Accelerated Processing Unit (APU), being the most powerful APU at that time. The Playstation 4 was more popular than it's competitor, the Xbox one, due to it's increased performance.

Prior to it's release the Xbox one did not seem to have as much support from the community as the Playstation 4 had, but after tweaking some things, the Xbox one received mostly positive response from the community after launch. The Xbox one focused on cloud computing and the integration of entertainment applications and services.
