    Alexander Graham Bell's telephone was in a large, wooden box with magnets and discs. The phone, overall, measures 6.25 x 7.5 x 12.5 inches. The telephone could only work if the transmitter and received connects via a wire.

    Creation of the Gower-Bell Telephone
    People in Britain primarily used the Gower-Bell telephone in their Post Offices. The phone converts sounds into electric currents, so another person can hear the sound from their phone. It uses a carbon microphone to increase the phone's efficiency. The caller uses a button if they wanted to make a call. Gower Bell constructed the phone, whereas, it is within a large, wooden, wall-mounted box.

    Almon Brown Strowger created the rotary dial for his Dial Candlestick phone, and he patented and invented the idea in 1892 and 1891, respectively. It is about 11.25" in height. The phone has 11 digits (0-9 and numbers for the operator). Strowger designed this phone to suit desks.

    The Trimline Phone was a curvy phone that fit comfortably on your ear (dimensions: 3.2 x 8.5 x 4.3 inches). The phone allowed users to talk anywhere, as long as the cord can reach. Trimlines had a rotary dial on the mouthpiece and small ringer and receiver. The phone's sole function was to make calls to other people.

    Motorola, in 1973, introduced the Motorola DynaTAC to consumers. This phone measures 9 inches in height and 2.5 lbs in weight. The DynaTAC 's only functions were to be portable and to communicate with others (the battery only lasted 35 minutes before charging for 10 hrs).

This was the first of its kind to truly fit in pockets; folded, it measures 9 inches in length. The MicroTAC includes a keypad, LCD, antenna (does not have any function), phone book, and calculator.
