  • The Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763
    This safeguarded Indian lands and separated them from the colonist, this was like payment for the Indians that helped the British during the french and Indian wars.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    This law put tax on all sugar that was imported into the colonies which impacted the manufacture of rum in New England, the purpose of this law was to bring in more revenue into Great Britain.
  • The Currency Act of 1764

    The Currency Act of 1764
    This law prohibited the issue of any new Currency and the re-issue of existing currency by the colonist.
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act
    This made it so that the colonists had to house British soldiers, when a British solider needed housing, then colonist had to, by order of the law, provide barracks.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    This act made it so many forms of paper items such as licenses, documents, diplomas and anything that was paper had to be stamped, This meant that colonist had to pay for every legal document they made. The colonists also had to pay for things like newspaper. THIS WAS A DIRECT TAX. There was no way around these taxes. People harasses the Tax collectors. This caused the colonies to unite.

    This was a meeting from Oct 9-25th, it consisted of men from 9 of the different colonies, the plan of this meeting was to, in unity, protest the stamp act.

    This Act stated that Britain's tax authority was the same in the colonies as it was in Britain. They declared authority,
  • The Townshend acts

    The Townshend acts
    This law put taxes on imported goods to the colonies, and put a higher tax on goods that were essential to the colonists. They responded with anger and violence, boycotts and same things as before.
  • Townshend acts repel

    All the items that were taxed were repealed, and all taxes were takin down, EXCEPT FOR TEA. Tea was still taxed, and this is what caused the Boston Massacre.

    This was another event that sparked the revolution, a sentry called for backup when an angry mob of people had started harassing the solider, when backup arrived they open fired on the mob of people.

    The tea act allowed the East India company to sell their large amounts of tea, at a reduced rate compared to other tea.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    The Boston tea party was an act of protest to the British Tax that was imposed on tea. Boston protester that were dressed as Mohawk Indians, raided three British ships in Boston harbor and dumped 342 containers of tea into the harbor.
  • The Second Quartering Act- Part of the Intolerable Acts

    Soldiers could be housed in whatever house they wanted to be in, the public was forced to take in soldiers and live in their homes.

    The Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable acts were a series of acts to punish the Massachusetts colonists, for the Boston Tea Party, this acts closed the ports of Boston, so they could not even bring hay into town, the second ended the Massachusetts constitution, the third made it so that all trials in the colony were held in Britain under a British judge, and the 4th made colonist feed and shelter the British troops that were punishing them. There was a 5th act that was not exactly aimed at Massachusetts.

    The colonies were fed up with Britain, and the Intolerable Acts were the final straw, this congress was what started the American Revolution.
