To spice up the event, Elvis appeared on stage with an acoustic guitar. As he wore his plaid jacket, he sung the song don't be cruel. He also made a few more apperiences on the show.

She also had secret relationships with John and Robert Kennedy.At age 36 she was found dead of the overdose of barbiturates. The questionable cause of her death may be the breaking off of her soon to be husband's engagement.

    Martin Luther King Jr. was born January 15, 1929, in Atlanta. He is an American Activist who looked for equality in American Society. He participated in the Alabama bus boy cot, and soon afterword gained the Nobel Peace Price in 1964. He deliverd the "I Have a Dream" speech in hope of opening the eyes of many, and giving equality to african american citizens.

    Responding to the Gulf of Tonkin incident in August 2 and 4, 1964, President Johnson gave authority to send troops off to Vietnam. On March 8th, 1956, 3,500 Marines land near Da Nang in South Vietnam. They were the first troops in Vietnam to start off the war.

    Neil Armstrong, as apart of the Apollo 11 mission, was deemed the first man ever to land on the moon. As he opened the hatch to his lunar module, nicknames Eagle, he climbed down the lader. He took one giant leap for mankind and one for the US. Minutes after his land, Edwin "Buzz' Aldrin followed him to the moon. Looks like America wins the race to the moon.

In states that allowed abortion, such as New York and California, there were still various restrictions placed on abortion. All restrictions on abortion were removed by this 1973 ruling.

    On this day, Soviet troops invade Afghanistan. They stayed their for nearly 10 years. The US suplied the rebels in Afghanistan with weapons and other valuble supplies. Afghanistan then became a very violent killing ground. The Soviets suffered 50,000 casualties including over 14,000 killed.

    No one imagined that this election would be this close. The election was on the edge, and the difference was just a few hundred votes in Flordia. This close debate called for a recount in Flordia. The U.S. Supreme Court called to end the recount on December 12, 2000. On the following day, the Supreme Court ruled Bush to be the president of the United States. On January 23, Bush came into office as the 43rd president.
