  • First Continental Congress

    Delegates from the 13 colonies except for Georgia met in Philadelphia to discuss how to form a colonial resistance to British Parliaments Acts.

  • Second Continental Congress

    The 13 colonies met in Philadelphia to discuss the start of The Revolutionary War.

  • Olive Branch Petition

    The Continental Congress passes the Olive Branch Petition that was written by John Dickinson. This petition towards King George III. This created reconciliation between the colonies and Britain.

  • Prohibitory Act

    Great Britain passed the Act to no longer protect the colonies under the British. Also, this stopped trade between Britain and the colonies. Then it allowed American ships to be captured.

  • Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence was adopted by Continental Congress to break away from Great Britain to be a free and independent America.
