    Marshall Plan
    The Marshall Plan was the common plan of the United States for rebuilding and creating a stronger foundation for the countries of Western Europe. The effect that the Marshall plan had on Europe with the execption of Germany was a major success in economic fuel.
  • Creation of NATO

    Creation of NATO
    North Atlantic Treaty Organization was created to unite Europe and the U.S. with tradeing and relations in general. 12 nations agreed that if a nation attacked the others would help them.
  • Rosenburg Spy Case

    Rosenburg Spy Case
    The Rosenburgs were convicted of leaking atomic bomb information to the Soviets and were sentenced to prison. At their trial they were asked questions and to each question their response was "I plead the fifth". They were given the electric chair.
  • China becomes Communist

    Communism came to power mainly through the strength of Mao Zedong. Mao led Boxer rebellions which threw out all christian missionaries and foreigners out of china. China still to this day is Commmunist and we are for now in o.k. relations with them.

    The war started with North Korea's desire to unify the peninsula under Communist rule. Before WWII, it had been one country. South Korea was helped by the U.S. and the united nations. The united nations also set up an imaginary line called 38th parallel to separate the North from the South.
  • Warsaw Pact

    Warsaw Pact
    Soviet Union, Albania, Poland, Romania, Hungary, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Bulgaria all signed this pact that if anyone attacks a country they would all join in and help eachother. Lasted until 1991. Albania expelled because too out of control and thoughts of communism.

    Fidel Castro Comes to Power in Cuba
    Fidel Castro led a rebellion in Havanna and on January 1, 1959 he achieved a dictatorship and was ruling over Cuba. In the past and even still today we have friction between Cuba from the Bay of Pigs, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. We believe to this day there is something sketchy happening in Cuba.

    Vietnam War was a war fought by Communists wanting a communist dictatorship and socialists wanting democracy. Vietnam was over powered and still to this day is communist. The Vietnam War is considered the only war lost by Americans because we pulled out of the war.

    The Bay of Pigs Invasion was an unsuccessful at exiling powerful rulers in Cuba especially Fidel Castro.In 1961 President Eisenhower broke off trade relations with Cuba because of all the arguing.
  • Berlin Wall goes up

    The city was divided into 4 sections: Americans, French, Soviets, and British. Around the Soviet section they built a massive wall to keep people out and inside. No shots were ever fired but were prepared for battle.

    The nations of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Sudan, along with military contingents from many other Arab and Muslim regimes all want to destroy Israel. The six day war consisted of Israel absolutely outnumbered somehow by the grace of God won the six day war and kept Israel a nation.

    The U.S. learned they were behind on the space race when the Soviets launched the Sputnik 1 to the moon. But the U.S. was the first ones to put man on the moon. On July 20, 1969 everyone at home was watching the historical day when Neil Armstrong leaped off the spacecraft and walked on the moon.

    The fall of the Berlin wall was like a freedom call to the German people. People from all over the world could now come into East Germany what would now be just plain Germany today.

    On Christmas day 11 leaders declared that they would not be a part of the Soviet Union anymore. That day was the last historic day and the fall of the Soviet Union.

    The Cuban Missile Crisis was an inch away from starting a nuclear war. The U.S. were ready than ever and Soviet commanders in Cuba were prepared to use battlefield nuclear weapons to defend the island if it was invaded. To this day the U.S. is still not on good terms with Cuba.
