    Chinese Revolution Part 2
    The Communists had rule of the north after WW2 and relied a lot from the Soviet Union for aid. They promised land to the people and had a much stronger military. In conclusion, there was not a strong enough military for the Nationalists to beat the Communists and Communism took over China under the leader Mao Zendong.

    Chinese Revolution Part 1

    This started almost immediately after WW2 had ended. It was a civil war between the Nationalists and the Communists in China. The Nationalists had ruled the south of china soon after WW2 and relied very much on the United States for aid. The United States had only supported them because they were anti-communist. The US never actually sent troops in to help the Nationalists but instead sent two billion dollars’ worth of military equipment and supplies to china.

    Korean War

    This was started after the Cold War ended and when the north invaded the south. North Korea was heavily communist and South Korea was given a lot of help by the United States. With the help of the US, South Korea has been able to keep their part of Korea. There is still a division between the two countries at the 38th parallel.

    Uprisings in Hungary and Czechoslovakia
    This was a national revoult of the republic of Hungary and the Soviets. This spread quickly and broke into militias to battle. This caused the goverment to colapse. This caused the Soviets to strengthen their resolve in having a stronger power on their territores and be more intimidating.

    Sputnik launched (and the space race)
    This started when the Soviets launched the first satellite into space. The satalite had the capibility to launch a nuclear weapon anywhere in the world at any time.This made the US feel inferior and they changed everything in their education program to catch up to the Soviets. The US had one failed launch and then a suscessful satilite with a weapon-delivery system.

    Eisenhower had spy planes made to be able to take pictures of the Soviets so we knew the advancements they were making. They suspected Soviets had clues about the the U2 planes and wanted to cancle missions. The plane was shot down by the Soviets and the US was issued a false story.

    This was a concrete wall put in the middle of East Berlin and West Berlin. This wall was made to seperate where Soviets were in control and where the US was in control.This wall prohibited and goods from comming in and out and any people from going in and out. This wall became the symbol of communism.

    The Soviet union had told Cuba they would protect them with nuclear arms from other countries but pointed these weapons at the US. The United states took this as a huge threat and wanted the weapons removed imediatly. Kennedy threatened that any missle launch on the US would lead to an attack on the Soviet Union. No missles were fired and there were no attacks.

    Russia invades Afghanistan
    Russia had control over Afghanistan. Some of the people believed in being true to Russia's power and others believed in the Afghanista goverment. The Russians helped by relaeasing chemicals on the Mujahdeen (people in favor of Afghanistan). Mujahdeen had most of the power of land in Afghanistan.Russia eventually could not afford to win the war. Taliban leaders soon took control of the country.
