    Truman Doctrine
    The Truman Doctrine stated the the U.S. would help support Turkey and Greece with any military aid or economic aid to prevent them from falling to the Soviets, and was said to be the start to the Cold War.
  • The Marshall Plan

    The Marshall Plan
    The Marshall Plan was a plan for the U.S. to help aid Western and Southern European Countries to help strengthen democracy and help their economics.
  • Creation Of NATO

    Creation Of NATO
    The North Atlantic Treaty was made so that incase the Soviet Union were to attack, the point of NATO is that they would then attack with nuclear weapons.
  • Korean War

    Korean War
    After WWII Korea was split up and divided at the 38th parallel as a buffer zone. In 1950 North Korea invades the South and the U.S. came in Incheon and the Chineses were pushed back to the 38th parallel, starting and ending the war there.

    Rosenberg was arrested for working for the U.S. army corps. and for giving classified military information to the Soviet Union.

    Creation of Warsaw Pact
    The Warsaw Pact was a pact with the Soviet Union, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, and Albania. It was made as an agreement to say that countries would help to aid the other if their was a foreign invasion in one of them.

    The Cold War was mostly focused on the U.S. trying to rid communism and the Vietnam War was communists trying to take over South Viatnam so the U,S. helped them to fight against communism.

    The launch of Sputnik was the start of the space age. There was fear that the ability to launch Sputnik could lead to the ability to launch misilles with nuclear weapons to the U.S. from Europe.
  • Bay of Pigs

    The Bay of Pigs was an unsuccessful attempt by the U.S. backing Cuba to try to overthrow Fidel Castro, the Cuban dicator. Eisenhower broke relations with Cuba on January in 1961. Kennedy had been planning an invasion plan and April 17, 1961 the U.S. landed on Bay of Pigs and tried to cross Havana.
  • Berlin Wall goes up

    Berlin Wall goes up
    People moved from East Berlin to West Berlin and cut phone lines, dug holes, and put up concrete blocks and walls to form the Berlin Wall which was hundreds of miles long. This prevented people from crossing into East or West Berlin depending on what side of the wall they were on the previous night.

    A spy plane noticed nuclear missile sites in Cuba, and President Kennedy ordered for a naval blockade. After a few days, Cuba then said they were removing Cuban missiles and U.S. removed their's in Turkey etc.

    Israel fought against Jordan, Syria, and Egypt because Israel thought before long the three Arab states would launch a massive attack. Israel launched a successful and large military campaign and basically destroyed the Arab nations.

    The U.S.A.was playing the USSR in the olympics for a chance at winning the gold medal. There was a big controversy that the U.S.A. should have won because Russia had three chances to inbound the ball after complaining that the coach had called a timeout. On the third attempt Russia was able to score a basket, moving ahead to beat the U.S.A.

    Fall of Berlin Wall
    The Berlin Wall separated West and East Germany between communism and democracy in the ColdWar and it's collapse was celebrated all over.
  • Collapse of the Soviet Union

    Collapse of the Soviet Union
    The Soviet Union fell into 15 separate different countries and ended the Cold War. The West had victory for freedom and the breakup of the Soviet Union changed the whole political situation world wide as well as economic and military alliances.
