Albany Plan
~A plan to create a unified government for the 13 colonies.
~Suggested by Benjamin Franklin.
~Many thought it was too extreme, so it was ultimately never implemented. -
The Stamp Act
~Passed by British Parliament.
~Imposed on all American colonists.
~Required them to pay a tax on every printed paper they had used.
ex. Legal documents, licenses, newspaper, and even playing cards. -
Boston Massacre
~British army solider killed several people.
~The British soldiers came to support a sentry who was heckling, snowballing crowd -
Boston Tea Party
~Colonists dressed up as Native Americans
~The colonists throw 340 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor.
~All the tea dumped costed $1.7 million in today's time. -
First Continental Congress
~ Parliament passed a set of laws to punish the colonists for the troubles in Boston.
~ The new laws were called the Intolerable Acts.
~ On September 5th delegates from each colony besides Georgia including Samuel Adams, Roger Sherman, Stephan Hopkins, John Dickinson, Joseph Galloway, John Jay John Rutledge and Philip Livingston had all met together in Philadelphia. -

~This event happened a few weeks before the second continental congress meeting.
~One of the first battles that took place in the Revolutionary War. -
Second Continental Congress
~Each of the colonies sent representatives and drafted a petition which was later denied.
~The nations first government was the second continental congress, but it had a constitutional past. -
Intolerable Acts
~A series of punitive laws passed by British parliament
~Also referred to as the Coercive Acts -
Declaration of Independence
~Stated that all men are equal and we all have our unalienable rights.
~With it written we officially stated that the U.S.A was its own country.
