The Sugar Act
The law put a Tax on imported sugar, coffee, indigo, and related items. The tax was made due to the debt gained in the french and indian war. The effect on merchants was significant and this was the time that people started protesting taxation without representation. -

In response to the tea tax a group of men dressed as indians went on a ship and dumped a ton of tea into the boston harbor, in response, Britain barracaded the harbor. -
The First Continental Congress
The Congress was a group of 56 delegates from 12 colonies. They came together to act in response to the intolerable act. The congress also created the Continental army to organize war against Britain.
