  • The Albany Congress

    The British and the Iroquois meet in Albany, New York. The Iroquois refused because they expected the french to win the war. To make a point Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania believed the colonies must succeed he published a picture of a snake chopped into pieces with the warning join or die. The point of this meeting was to form an alliance with the Iroquois.

    French and Indian War

    British, Iriquois, colonist against the french, hurons and algonquin. Fighting over the Ohio River Valley. The British won. The British got most of the French North American land.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris made the French give up most of its North American land.It ended the French and Indian war. the British got French Canada, Spanish Florida. and all territory east of the Mississippi but the didn't get New Orleans.
  • The Quarting Act

    The purpose of the Quartering Act was to make money. To enforce the Proclamation of 1763 British troops. The act required to house British troops and give them food and other supplies. The colonist protested and complained that Parliament was violating their rights.

    Pontiac's War

    Pontiac wanted his land back. So he teamed up with other native american tribes and attacked the British forts. In the end the british kept there land.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    British wanted to avoid further wars with Native Americans They issued the proclamation of 1763. It banned colonial settlement west along the Appalachians. Settlers were told to move east.
  • Sugar act

    The British taxed sugar products. They taxed produts like molasses. It also called for harsh punishment on smugglers. They protested and got the act taken away.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act is tax that is put on paper documents. They had to get stamps on newspapers, wills, licenses, insurance, insurance polices, land titles, contracts, and other documents. Everyone protested.
  • Boston Massacre

    In Boston an angry crowd formed with angry workers and sailors. They colonist threw snowballs and rocks. But the British shot at them and many people died.
  • The Tea Act

    It was intended to help the British East India Company, one of British most important company. The company had been growing tea in India and selling it to Britain and in the colonies. However, the colonial boycott of tea seriously hurt the company. the tea act actually lowered the price of tea by allowing the West India company to ship directly to the colonies.
  • Boston Tea Party

    An angry crowd formed gathering in the harbor. A large group of men disguised as Native Americans board the tea ship. During the next 3 hours they threw 342 cases of tea into the harbor. As the crowd shouted and cheered, the raiders destroyed 90,000 pounds of tea worth thousand of dollars.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    In response to the Boston Tea party, Parliament passed four laws. The first was to close the harbor. The others powers of the royal governor, abolished the upper the Massachusetts legislature, and cut powers of town meetings. the forth strengthened the Quartering Act.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Minutemen were waiting for the British arrival. Someone fired but know one who. A larger battle took place in Concord. This time 400 minutemen waited. British killing 3 this time .About the time they reached Boston almost 300 had been killed.
  • The Second Continental Congress

    After the Battles of Lexington and Concord colonist still didn't have independence. They were ready to use force. They were confused on what to do. The first step they came up with is to build an army. They hired George Washington as the commander. But how were they gonna pay for it. They started making paper money.
  • Battle for Fort Ticonderoga

    Leading the force was Ethan Allen a blacksmith. Most of his men came from the Green Mountains of today's Vermont. Allen's force of 83 men reached the by crossing the lake at night and surprising the British in the morning. Only 42 British troops guarded the fort. So they surrendered almost immediately.
  • The Olive Branch Petition

    The petition stated that the colonist were loyal to the king. It also asked George Washington to stop the fighting so all the disputes between the colonist and Britain could be solved. The king didn't even ready the petition. Instead he threw it in the garbage.
  • Invasion of Quebec

    The Americans attacked Quebec. The attack was turned back. Richard Montgomery was dead and Benedict Arnold was hurt. So the Americans left Quebec for Britian.
  • The Battle of Bunker/Breads Hill

    they had cannons surrounding the sea ways of Boston. When the British attacked they were ready. They first attack went to the colonist. So did the second. But the third one went to Britian because the colonist ran out of ammunition.
  • First Continental Congress

    Parliament passed four laws. One closed the port of Boston. Two other increased the powers of the loyal governor, abolished the upper house of the Massachusetts legislature, and cut the powers of town meetings. The fourth law strengthened the quartering act.
