  • Currency act

    Several Acts which regulated the issuing of money by the American colonist. restricted the emission of paper money and the establishment of new public banks by the colonies of New England.
  • proclamation of 1763

    proclamation of 1763
    This document was sent to the Colonists’ by the King and declared colonists were not allowed to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains.
    colonist wanted the land they believe they own it.
  • Townshend act/duties

    Townshend act/duties
    Townshend Acts imposed duties on glass, lead, paints, paper and tea imported into the colonies.
    Colonist boycotted the goods and made it themselves.
  • sugar act

    Placed duties/taxes on the importation of foreign molasses.
    Trading companies and colonist didn't like the prices.
  • quartering act

    Gave British soldiers housing of colonist and food from colonist. strengthened enforcement of law.
    The colonist didn't want to give the soldiers free housing and food, was also invasion of privacy.
  • stamp act

    It required colonist to pay tax for special stamped paper or documents.

    Colonist didn't like it because they had to have every paper they own or need to be taxed.

    Merchants weren’t going to import things until it was removed. Colonist also boycotted British goods. It worked and the British removed it.
  • Declaratory Acts

    Parliament passed the Declaratory Acts, asserting that the British government had free and total legislative power over the colonies.
  • Boston massacre

    Boston massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a street fight that occurred between a "patriot" mob, throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks, and a squad of British soldiers. Several colonists were killed and this led to a campaign by speech-writers to rouse the ire of the citizenry.
    colonist wanted the soldiers to be brought to trial and be prosecuted.

    East India Company could sell their tea cheaper than the American merchants. colonists were angry because the Act would give the East India Company a monopoly on tea sales in the colonies. The colonist will soon dress as Indians and dump all the tea into the harbor. It will also lead to creation of Boston tea party.

    In response to the Tea Act patriots dressed as American Indians dump British tea into Boston Harbor. This Caused the intolerable acts.
  • Intolerable Acts

    British shut down the Boston harbor until colonist paid for tea and declared martial law and soldiers can come in peoples houses.
    The colonist didn't want to pay for tea and didn't like martial law.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    British troops had moved from Boston toward Lexington and Concord to seize the colonists' military supplies and arrest revolutionaries.
    Colonist didn't like British coming to take their arms away.
  • The second continental congress

    The second continental congress
    The Second Continental Congress was a convention of delegates from the 13 colonies that started meeting on May 10, 1775, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, soon after the American Revolutionary War had begun. They all agreed to fight the British.
  • Battle of bunker Hill

    Battle of bunker Hill
    British defeated the Americans at the Battle of Bunker Hill in Massachusetts. Despite their loss, the inexperienced colonial forces inflicted significant casualties against the enemy, and the battle provided the colonist with an important confidence boost.
