  • French and Indian war

    This war began in 1756 and ended in 1763, it embraces the North american theater of the worldwide Seven Years' War. It was a battle between the colonies of British America against New France. Both sides were supported by militaries from their countries and Americans had allies such as the Indians.
  • Stamp act

    Occurred in 1765, it imposed a direct tax on the thirteen Colonies and required that many printed materials produced in London and was an act of the parliament of great Britain.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    Was a serie of 4 British parliament acts during 1768, its purpose was to set new import taxes on british gods that included paint, paper, glass, lead and tea. They used earnings to maintain British troops in America and to pay the salaries of some Royal officials. The 4 acts were the suspending act, townshend duties, the third act established strict and the Indemnity Act.
  • Tea Act

    Was passed by the parliament in May 10, 1773. Its main purpose was to decrease the massive quantity of tea held by the British East India company in its London warehouses and to help the financially company survive.
  • Boston Tea party

    Was a political and mercantile protest that occured on December 16, 1773 by the sons of Liberty. It took place in 3 British ships with the purpose of showing how Parliament how they felt about the tea act, throwing their load of tea into the water.
  • Intolerable acts

    Intolerable acts
    Was in 1774, were meant to be a serie of punitive laws passed by the British parliament after the Boston tea party, they referred to this laws as the coercive acts.
  • First continental congress

    First continental congress
    It was a meeting of the Thirteen Colonies delegates that met in Pennsylvania from September 5 to October 26, 1774. They made a series of measures of new taxes in response to their resistance.
  • Second continental congress

    Second continental congress
    Was the same convention of delegates of the first continental congress, they started meeting in the spring of 1775 in Pennsylvania. This congress managed the Colonial war effort and wanted to reach independence.
  • American declaration of Independence

    American declaration of Independence
    It is the statement made by the Second continental congress, it occurred on July 4, 1776 in Pennsylvania and is now known as the independence hall. Their main purpose was to explain external nations why the colonies chose to separate from Great Britain.
