  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    In the year 1774 the goods sugar and molasses was suddendly taxed, becuase Great Britan needed money for The French and Indian War. The slogan, "No taxation without representation" which meant they didn't want to be taxed without having any say in British Goverment. A 'comunication group' called the Commities of Corospondense formed. Colonists started boycotting the buying of sugar and molasses so it could hurt Great Britan's economy.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    A year later stamps,seals,paper,contracts,and legal documents weretaxed. Great Britan still needed money for the French and Indian War, the colonists weren't okay with this new tax either. During the same year a secret society formed, Sons of Liberty. They frightened tax collecters. Later on, the Stamp Act Congress madeParliament to repeal the Stamp Act. London merchants were losing money also losing money due to boycotting. It was repealed.The Declareatoric Act that they had the right to tax.

    The Townshend Acts
    Glass,lead,paints,paper, and tea were taxed.Great Britan still needing money for the French and Indian.The colonists weren't okay with this tax at all.The Daughters of Liberty later formed boycotting and making their own things.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    British troops were in Boston to restore the order due to protest and groups like the Sons of Liberty. 5 people were killed. Crispus Attucks was half African American who was killed also. There was a lot of propaganda going around also. John Adams and Quincy defended the British soldiers, not found guilty of murder. Colonists of course angered at Britian.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    Parliament repealed most of the taxes but kept the tax on tea. Parliament let the East India Company sell tea to colinists due to low prices and to help to stop smuggling. American merchants were losing money from this.The Sons of Liberty demanded that the tea ships leave the harbor. The tea was thorwn overboard the ships, which most believe the Sons of Liberty were responsible.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    Parliament made this act due to the Boston Tea Party. Boston Harbor became closed. The Massachusetts Goverment Act was cancelled. Colonists were required to house British soldiers, land taken from colonists and given to Quebec. Boston put under military rule by Thomas Gaige. The harbor wouldn't be open until Boston payed for the tea.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    They met and decided to start boycotting. They sent their concerns to the King, and started training colonists for malisha if he refused their demands to get ready for war, and meet again. Later in 1775 they met again in Philadelphia on October 26, Georgia being the only colony not sending a representative.
