    Maine got admitted to a free state.
    Missouri got admitted to a slave state.
    Louisiana got split in half by a 36x30 line above the Arkansas territory. If you were north of the line, slavery would not be allowed. If you were south of the line, slavery was allowed.
  • Nat Turner Rebellion

    Nat Turner Rebellion

    Slaves went around killing about 60 white people. The slaves went into houses, freed other slaves, and kept on with their attack. The attack starting spreading revolt around the south, and it eventually acquired the name of "the slaughter of many blacks without trial and under circumstances of great babarity". After that, 55 slaves including Turner were executed. Then nearly 200 more slaves were lynched be frenzie mob's.

    Compromise of 1850

    California would be admitted as a free state.
    You get to choose if you were a slave home or a free home. Texas agreed to give up claims to Mexico for $10,000,000. This let Texas pay off their debt and gave Texas their final boundary. The Fugitive law was that it was now a crime to help runaway slaves even in the location.

    Missouri compromise outlawed slavery above the 30/36 degree line in the Louisiana territories. Which reopened the slaver struggle in western territories.

    John Brown started a raid on Harpers Ferry. He started this raid for an anti-slavery revolt hoping to stop slavery. John Brown ended up being hung and convicted for conspiracy and treason.
  • Dred Scott Descision

    Dred Scott Descision

    The Dred Scott Decision states that African Americans will not be considered citizens, but they will be considered property. The African people would not be allowed to sue in Federal Court for freedom or anything else.
    The Dred Scott Decision also stated that the Missouri compromise was not legal, and states could not tell what states that they had to be a slave state or a free state.

    During 1860 Abraham Lincoln was elected for president. When he was elected president republicans promised to end the spread of slavery, and give free land to west settlers. His first act as president was to make secession illegal, which he did. After he did that, war happened and the first shots were fired at 4:30am on April 12th, 1861.
