    The second opium war was fought between 1856 and 1860. This war contributed to the spread of Imperialism in China. This war was a match-up between the British and the second French Empires against the Qing Dynasty. One of the main points was to open all of China to British merchants.

  • Irish War of Independence

    The Irish War of Independence or Anglo- Irish war was a guerrilla war fought between the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and the British Government and its forces in Ireland. It began with the Soloheadbeg ambush on Jan. 21, 1919. The conflict resulted in over 300 deaths, including the deaths of 14 British Intelligence operatives as teh RIC opened fire ona crowd at a football match in the afternoon. A cease fire agreement was established on July 11, 1921.

The war was fought between the Republicans who were loyal to the democratically elected Spanish Republic and the Nationalist, a rebel group led by Francisco Franco. The location of he war was continental spain, spanish morocco, Balearis islands, and the North Sea. More than 500,000 people died.

    The London 2012 Games were centred around the Olympic Park in east London, which is the site of a number of new sports venues.
