Joining Marching Band: Industry Vs Inferiority
Dakota (age 11) decided to get the courage to join the marching band Color guard club, due to high grades. This was a club that Dakota had a lot of natural talent in, and she felt good that you could only be in the club if you had A+B Honor Roll. In Erikson's Fourth stage of Industry vs Inferiority a child expands their social world and begins to see what they are "good at." This is also the time for learning industry, giving them a love for learning. Children without out this may feel inferior. -
Joined the Veterinary Medicine Vocation program in High School. Identity vs Identity confusion
Dakota (Age 14) Has joined the veterinary assistant vocational training program through her high school. This came highly recommended since she has decided to pursue medicine when she goes to college. In Erikson's fifth stage, identity versus identity confusion adolescents must develop an awareness of who they are and what their place is withing the culture. For those unable to do so can develop identity confusion. -
I got married! Intimacy vs Isolation
Dakota (26) Married her husband. Well, at least had the ceremony today! Dakota and Jacob have decided to spend their lives together and support each other through good times and the bad. In Erikson stage six, intimacy versus isolation takes place in early adulthood. This is risking newly formed identities by entering a committed intimate relationship. Those who are unable or unwilling to make themselves vulnerable end up isolated, without an intimate relationship.
