    The Eiffel Tower was inaugurated on March 31, 1889.

  • Opened

    The Eiffel Tower was inagurated in March but wasnt opened until May.

  • Special Visitor

    Thomas Edison visited the Tower.

  • Disaster

    In 1902 (i dont know the exact date) the eiffel tower was struck by lightning. 100m of the top had to be reconstructed and the lights that illuminate the tower had to be replaced.

  • Scrap Metal

    In 1925(dont know the exact date), the con artsist victor Lustig twice "sold" the tower for scrap metal.

  • No longer the tallest structure

    The tower lost its title as the worlds largest structure due to the Chrysler building in New York City.

  • Allies near Paris

    When the allies were near Paris Hitler ordered Dietrich von Choltitz, a general, ot demolish the city along with the Tower, but the general ignored the order.

  • Fire

    In 1956 a fire damged the top of the tower.

  • James Bond

    In 1985 the James Bond movie, A View To Kill, Grace Jones parachuted the tower.

  • Ice Skating Rink

    SInce '04 the first floor of the tower has been used as an ice skating rink during Winter time
