    Public  Law 88-164
    PL 88-164 was started by President Kennedy who was greatly influenced by his sister’s disability. This allowed funds for training those who work with children with disabilities.
  • PL 93-112

    PL 93-112
    PL 93-112 was signed in ny Nixon and gives equal admittance to programs and services for people with disabilities. It states that an individual cannot be denied access because of his or hers disability.
  • Public Law 94-142

    Public Law 94-142
    PL 94-142 guaranteed a free and appropriate public education for all children with disabilities. The law included Individual Education Program and parental involvement.
  • Public Law 99-457

    PL 99-457 added preschool age children to PL 94-142. Children with disabilities age 3- 5 years were granted public and their families the opportunity to receive financial grants.

    Americans with Disabilities act of 1992 extended civil rights to persons with disbilities without regards to race, color, gender, or religion this is covered with the Civil rights act of 1964. (Educating Exceptional Children 13th edition page 36)

    No Child Left Behind act of 2001 was signed on Jan. 8th 2002. This act holds educators and responsible for bringing students to a minimum level of competency. This act impacts all school children not onl those with disabilities.

    The Individuals with Disabilities Act of 2004 reauthorized basic legislation including revision of the IEP standards that include adult life goals and more.
