  • Stamp Act Passed by the British

    The British Government taxed the American colonies. This means that the British took money from the colonists whenever the colonists bought newspapers or other paper items.
  • The Tea Act Passed by the British

    The British Government had unsold tea. They decided to sell the tea to the American colonists at a reduced price. The American colonists were mad at the British because they felt like this was a British try at taking more money from the American colonists.
  • The Intolerable Acts (or Coersive Acts) Passed

    The British Government was mad at the American Colonists for throwing large tea bags into the Boston Harbor. The British Government wanted revenge and punished the American Colonists.
  • Shot Heard Around The World

    The British Government tried to talk to the colonists and prevent the American Revolution. The American Colonists and the British Government got into an argument in Lexington. One of the people arguing fired their gun. After that, war broke out between Britain and the American Colonies.
  • Start of the American Revolution

    The American Colonists go to war with Britain.
  • Signing of the Declaration of Independence

    This document was made in order to tell the British Government that the American Colonists were making their own country. This also told the American Colonists were not happy with the British Government and gave reasons why they were leaving.
  • The American Revolution Ends

    Britain excepts it lost the American Revolution. After signing the Treaty of Paris, Britain accepts that the American Colonists are now a new country called the United States of America.
