As a child, prior to enrolling into kindergarten I remember my mother reading religious stories to me, predominately during bedtime.

Once enrolled in Kindergarten, Ms. Anderson would send us picture books to read to our parents. My mother could not read them to me, but my father who was learning English at the time helped me during this time.

In my fourth grade class, Mr. Sittler had a reading competition going on to encourage us to read more books. During this time I was fascinated with the series of books called "Goosebumps".

In the seventh grade, I participated in a Bible Study club. Here we dived into different stories from the Bible and learned more about Christianity.

In high school, I read lots of textbooks around various content areas (i.e. Algebra, Anatomy, History, Health, etc.). This is where I began to establish endurance in my reading capabilities.

Around my senior year in High School I remember reading up on many immigration laws, reading immigration forms and translating this information for my parents who required my assistance with their immigration forms. They could not afford an immigration attorney so this responsibility fell onto me.

During my undergraduate years I read many textbooks. Many revolving around the sciences (i.e. Biology, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Genetics, etc.). My degree was in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Pre-Medicine. Here my endurance and comprehension was put to the test.

During my graduate studies, I continued reading many textbooks, this time centered around Nutritional Sciences. During this time, a lot of my reading emphasis was on Nutrition related publication and dissertations.

As I transitioned into my career in Teaching, I relied heavily on various Educational foundational books. Books centered around effective teaching practices, classroom management, pedagogy, educational theories and educational technology. As I continue to refine my practice I currently working on my ELAD endorsement and will be pursing an ED.D sometime next year. I suspect my more reading is to come my way and I look forward to the knowledge it will bring me.
