Jun 8, 1831 He was dismissed from West Point. Jun 8, 1833 He won fifty dollars in a writing competition. The prize was for his short story MS found in a bottle. Jun 8, 1835 He became the editor of Southern Literary Messenger in Richmond. Jul 8, 1836 He married his cousin, Virginia Clemm. Sep 18, 1838 Edgar's novel, The narrative of Athur Gordon Pym was published. Jun 8, 1841 He wrote The Murders in the Rue Morgue.
