Bring your own technology (also known as bring your own device) became big in 2010, when devices were coming out. As everyone wanted to have their own personal device, schools started to allow students to bring their devices to school, so they could work on them. This allowed students to do partake in online learning assignments and activities on their own device, without having to barrow a school device. -
With iPads being released, it totally transforms what we are able to do in the classroom. iPads start to be used in the form of a more portable laptop and are used for E-books. -
Internet was becoming bigger and bigger. After the iPad were released, technology was easier to come by and it was easy to use. More things started to be available online, to reduce the book work. -
Canvas was founded in 2008 but wasn't launched until 2011. Canvas has changed online learning, as all course work can be learned virtually and done by oneself. Canvas is a shell in which course work can be reached and taught virtually. Everything that you need for the course is found within the course shell. You can learn, turn in your assignments, and have private and public discussions in the shell. -
Communication with parents is a must with parents and sometimes emailing isn't the fastest form of contact. Class Dojo is a communication and behavior system that most students and parents, know and love. The communication is the equivalent to texting, but the behavior aspect of it is like a point system for behaviors and for doing work. Students can be rewarded points, and their parents are alerted that they have received a point or lost a point if they were displaying poor behavior. -
Shortly after canvas was released, many virtual school applications became available, and it became a popular option. Virtual school was seen as a great resource but also one that could save money in terms of books and teaching. -
Educational games were the craze in the classroom, they were fun, competitive, but allowed students to test their knowledge while having fun. Although other learning games were out there, Kahoot changed the game. It is a class favorite, and is a tool used to review what was learned in a lesson, usually before a test. -
Smart boards we're introduced in 1991, as an interactive whiteboard, and over weren't really popular until 2014. Smart boards are usually in the front of the classroom and commonly take the place of white boards chalk boards, and projector screens. It basically does it all. These boards are interactive and don't leave a mess. Kids love getting involved and using the stylus to write on the board and being involved with the classroom lesson. -
Covid-19 changed the way we learn in so many ways. As we progressively upgraded our technology over the years, 2020 happened so fast and everyone had to adapt to everything being virtual. Classes moved to all online and so did meetings. In order to have meetings, they had to be pushed virtually in order to still go on. After covid, virtual meetings stayed for the practicality. This allowed people to save time and not have to worry about commuting to be at an in-person meeting. -
Everyone adapted to learning online during the global pandemic in 2020, we had no choice as we had to keep our distance. After covid many things remain to be online for health reasons and for practicality.
