    Berlin Blockade
    Was the first major international crisis of the Cold War. During the multinational occupation of the post World War II Germany, the Soviet Union blocked the Wesrtern Allies railway road, and canal access to the sectors of Berlin under allied control.
  • Berlin Airlift

    Berlin Airlift
    At the end of the Second World War, U.S., British, and Soviet military forces divided and occupied Germany. Also divided into occupation zones, Berlin was located far inside Soviet-controlled eastern Germany.
  • Formation of the NATO

    Formation of the NATO
    he purpose of NATO was to provide stability and freedom to its members through collective security. In other words, all members would work together to assist and defend each other against all forms of aggression. NATO was designed to provide strong military forces to balance the threat from the Soviet Union. The United States and Canada were expected to maintain forces in Europe as their commitment to western security.
  • Berlin Blockade Ended

    Berlin Blockade Ended
    Soviets lifted the blockade and reopened the roads, canals and railway routes into the western half of the city. The Allies continued the airlift until September, however, because they wanted to stockpile supplies in Berlin just in case the blockade was reinstated

  • Chinise Cicil War

    Mao Zedung declared the creation of the people's republic of China. It is said that the conflict between the Unites States and the Soviet Union caused the event in China. This related to how contageous the issue over communism became and how no effort could completely stop it.
  • National Securety Council

    Also know as the NSC-68. It was a 58 top seceret policy paper issued to the United States National Securety Concil. It was one of the most significant statements of American policy in the Cold War.
  • Korean War

    The Korean War was a conflict betweent North Korea and South Korea. The United Nations helped aid South Korea while China helped aid North Korea. The Korean war connects to the cold war because once again the conflict spawned from communist prevention. The United Nations wanted to protect North Korea from taking over South Korea and making their country a communist country.
  • MacArthur gets Fired

    MacArthur gets Fired
    President Truman fired MacArthur and replaced him with Gen. Matthew Ridgeway.
  • Warsaw Pact

    Warsaw Pact
    Treaty of Friendship, Co-operation, and Mutual Assistance, sometimes, informally WarPac, akin in format to NATO) was a collective defense treaty among eight communist states of Central and Eastern Europe in existence during the Cold War.
  • Sputnik

    Sputnik
    A serious of artificial sattelites created by the Soviet Union. They were the first to be placed into orbit. This event connects to the Cold War because it is apart of the Space Race, yet another competition between the Soviet Union and the United States.
  • Cuban Mistile Crisis

    Cuban Mistile Crisis
    This event was the closest the world ever came to nuclear war. The Soviet Union planted missiles in Cuba that if lanuched would land in the United States. President Kennedy ordered their removal or else he would invade Cuba. The weapons were dismantled.
