    Martin Luther

    He brought about Universal Education. He started public support for education. Taught adults and children to read.
  • Johann Pestalozzi

    He believed in education taught through expereicneing nature. He also believed in a family centered apprached, own that is sensory.
  • Maria Montessori

    She created the Montessorri method of educationg children. Maria encourage learning through sensory experiences. The enviroment is prepared to support and promote children's learning.
    A large number of schools took on this approach.
  • Jean Piaget

    His major contribution was developing a a theory fo cognitive development based on the ages and stages. He believe that children develop their own intellegene. Mentall and phyical activities are vital to cognitive development. He encouraged projects and cooperative learning
  • Abraham Maslow

    Theory of Self-Actualization based on needs motiviation.
    Humanistic Psychology. Growth of Self esteem through movement. Teachers providing safety, security love and affection for children.
  • Civil Rights Movement

    The Civil Right movement. The Federal Government became invovled in ensuring education for all. Now called the Equal Opportunity Education Act
  • Indivduals with Disablities Act

    Provides inclusion in classrooms and curriculms. IDEA. Providing Equality in Education.
  • No Child Left Behind Act

    Established by the National Defense Education Act and focuses on accountablitly through testing.
