Deák and his party were willing to accept Francis Joseph as King, and willing to give up certain points of the demands of '48. That provided the first step to the compromise and the dualism.

With the compromise of 1867, the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy had been established ruled by Francis Joseph as a king and emperor as well. It became a constitutional dual monarchy, meaning that each country had autonomy (independent jurisdiction, government etc.) however foreign policy, military affairs and finance were shared, and considered common affairs.

The Andrássy government, became the 3rd responsible government. During this time, the law on education, the laws on nationalities and several other administrative and legal reforms had been made.

Eötvös József made it compulsory that kids have to go to school between the ages of 6 and 12.

Since Hungary was a multiethnic society, tensions were expected between the nationalities. Croatia made a compromise with Hungary and enjoyed complete autonomy from then on. This is what others wanted as well. However the laws of 1868 only provided them individual rights like cultural, educational rights, not collective ones.

During the governing of Tisza Kálmán Hungary had it's golden ages. Tisza reformed the legislation, changes happened in the Upper house, the mameluk system was created. Also, ensured the political power by virilism, he was able to keep the loyal wealthy taxpayers in the Hungarian government.

Several governors followed each other, with worse and worse political ideas and parties. Then Tisza István came into power, his rigid system despite the obstructions turned out greatly. Since the coalitional party failed to achieve anything, Tisza's second goverment came into power again, and finally got rid of the obstructions then entered the 1st World War.

The millennial was a countrywide celebration of he 1000th anniversary of the Hungarian conquest of the Carphatian Basin. Many constructions were made during this time.

Believed that by forcing ethnicities to learn the Hungarian language and culture would convert people into a Hungarian identity and could regain the dominance of it. That was the magyarization.

With the end of the 1st World War, the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy declined as states decleared their independence from the empire.
