Helen Longino is a feminist philosopher of science most famously known for her research in how feminism and social epistemology relate to the field of science. She is currently the first vice president of the Division of Logic, Methodology, and Philosophy, International Union. Longino is still conducting research including how scientific feminist philosophy can affect scientific perception in growing countries (Stanford University).

In 1966, Helen Longino earned a bachelor's degree at Bernard College, but her education did not end there. In 1967, she went on to earn a master's degree in Philosophy at the University of Sussex. Then in 1973, she earned her PhD at John Hopkin's University (Stanford Univerity).

In 1990, Helen Longino published her first book, "Science of Social Knowledge." In this book, Longino explains her reasoning on why science is a social practice and why it should be considered so. Perception of science is dependent on social perspective and background. For this reason, Longino questions whether science can ever be objective and explains that this has affected scientific judgment (McHugh).

In 2013, Longino became the president of the Philosophy of Science Association until 2014 (Stanford University).

In 2014, Longino recieved several awards from including the Robert K Merton Professional Award, Women’s Caucus of the Philosophy of Science Association Prize, degree of Doctor honoris causa from the Free University of Amsterdam (Ethnics in Science).

Helen Longino was elected to join the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (Stanford University).
