    Donna Haraway is born
    Donna Jeanne Haraway was born on September 6, 1944, in Denver, Colorado to parents Dorothy and Frank Haraway. Her father was a sportswriter for The Denver Post, and her mother an Irish Catholic woman passed away from a heart attack when Donna was sixteen years old. She grew up in a catholic home in a white, middle-class neighborhood. Donna attended high school at St. Mary's Academy in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. Her father was a big influence on her love for writing.

    Donna Haraway completed her Ph.D. in biology at Yale University. She wrote a dissertation titled "The Search for Organizing Relations: An Organismic Paradigm". This essay talks about the use of metaphors in shaping experiments. This was later turned into a book and published titled "Crystals, Fabrics, and Fields: Metaphors of Organicism in Twentieth-Century Developmental Biology".

    In 1985, Donna Haraway wrote an essay called "Manifesto for Cyborgs: Science, Technology, and Socialist-Feminism in the 1980's". This essay is about the rejected adaption to boundaries between humans, animals, and machines. It hopes to make aware of traditional notions of feminism and encourage women to look and go beyond the restrictions of what has been conditioned with gender roles.
